Achievements and Performance
Patients
- Provided online peer support service for LGBTIQ+ people affected by cancer. Service registered to by over 30 attendees in this period. In response to the pandemic, we took our peer support services online. We were able to lead the way on this change without any break in service to our beneficiairies.
Providers
-
Organised and chaired a virtual roundtable with the NHS about LGBTIQ+ work in the cancer sector.
-
Commissioned by the South East London Cancer Alliance to develop and deliver a webinar on inclusive practice for screening in primary care.
-
Delivered multiple ‘lunch and learn’ style sessions for various stakeholders.
Production
-
We published a survey report on LGBTIQ+ patients’ experiences and apprehensions around the coronavirus pandemic and made this report free and publicly accessible.
-
We have written articles addressing the gaps in information for LGBTIQ+ people affected by cancer, including information related to sexual function. These have been published with Macmillan, Trekstock and The Fruitfly Collective’s ‘The Cancer Hive’.
-
We have attended numerous panels on LGBTIQ+ health matters that are public facing to improve community awareness of our beneficiaries’ needs and promote positive health measures such as screening.
-
We created our Cooking Community cookbook to help patients connect during the pandemic over food and introduced new recipes into the cancer nutrition landscape. The book was supported by Nigella Lawson and the app Foodim.
