For the year ended 31 December 2022, the Trustees have continued to stay in touch with the education-focused non-governmental organisation based in rural India to whom a grant was provided last year. The primary beneficiaries of the funds were children and young people from impoverished backgrounds. The Trustees carried out due diligence activities on other organisations in India, with a view to providing grants in the future. No futher grants were awarded this financial year. Helping People Make Change (1190731) 4 | P a g e ## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** Income was £2,254 (2021: £15,063) for the year ended 31 December 2022, and the expenditure was £0 (2021: £6,006). The surplus of £2,254 (2021: £9,057) for the year ended 31 December 2022 is added to the reserves brought forward of £9,057, to give a total of £11,311 to be carried forward. The trustees' policy on reserves is to meet all requests for assistance from investment income, donations and retained income from previous years. Thus, the charity is reliant on the level of investment income and donations in determining what is available for grant payments each year, after support and governance costs. On 31 December 2022, the income reserves available to meet future grants were £11,311 (2021: 9,057). The trustees review the levels of reserves each year. ## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT** Helping People Make Change is a charitable incorporated organisation. The charity is governed by a constitution as described in the governing document last amended on 23 July 2020. The founding trustees of Helping People Make Change are listed on page 3 of this document. The day-to-day activities of Helping People Make Change are administered by its trustees as it employs no staff. The trustees received no remuneration during the year. New charity trustees must be appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of existing charity trustees. In selecting individuals for appointment, the trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of a charitable incorporated organisation. ## **RISK MANAGEMENT** The trustees have identified and reviewed all major risks to which the charity is exposed and have systems in place to mitigate those risks.
