OBJECTIVED AND ACTIVITIES
To engage with UK-based Chavakachcheri Hindu College old students and teachers to get together and organise programmes to support the school in Chavakachcheri, Sri Lanka.
To support the basic education and sports facilities of the school and other extracurricular activities provided by the school
To provide educational and basic needs support to students coming from low-income families.
To promote goodwill and co-operation among other members of the organisations with similar objectives in the UK and around the world.
STUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
CHC OSTA UK is an unincorporated association which was formed based on a trust deed – the governing document (adopted on 05 August 2020)
Trustee, who is a long-standing member of CHC OSTA UK, has been selected by the members based on his/her interests in voluntary work, the contribution made to this association and experience and skills which all are suitable to CHC OSTA UK.
CHC OSTA UK is led by a board that provides strategic leadership with its aims and values and the board is clear about the aims and ensures that these are being delivered effectively and sustainably as possible.
The board acts with integrity, adopting values and creating a culture which helps to achieve CHC OSTA UK’s purposes. It is aware of the importance of the public’s confidence and trust in CHC OSTA UK and trustees undertake their duties accordingly. It also works as an effective team using the appropriate balance of skills, experience, background, and knowledge to make informed decisions. It makes sure that its decision-making processes are informed, rigorous and timely and that effective delegation, control, risk assessment and management systems are set up and monitored.
The board’s approach to diversity supports its effectiveness, leadership, and decision-making.
The board leads CHC OSTA UK in being transparent and accountable unless there is good reason for it not to be.
ACHIEVEMENTS & PERFORMANCE
During the year, the charity allocated funds for the educational scholarship to support the underprivileged students in the school towards their education. Also, the charity supported other activities such as sports and extracurricular activities in the school.

1 Accounting basis
The accounts have been compiled on a basis that enables profits to be calculated in accordance with UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice and that provides sufficient and relevant information to enable the completion of a tax return.

Note 1
During the year, £8,500 was specially allocated for the educational scholarship fund to support the underprivileged students in the school towards their education.
CHC OSTA UK also funded £6,026 to the school for the additional educational scholarship from donation received from Satha & Co.
