Aims and Objectives
The Future Academy Trustees review the aims, objeciives and activities of the charity each year in January.
This report looks at what the charity has achieved; the outcomes of its work in the reporting period and the
benefrc brought to the young people tt support5.
The Trustees have referred to the guidan￿ contained in the (tharity Commission's 8eneral Euidan￿ on
public benefit when reviewing the tharity4s aims and objertives and in planning its future actlvltles. In
particularthe Trustees consider howthe pl8nned attl￿tIeS will contribute to the aims and obJective5 that

Future Academy UK furthers its objects by providing financial supportto enable ¥olunteer teathers (from
partner, UK-registered charltles) to dellver d￿rItable activities to refugee children in the UK and overseas.
Achlevements and Perfornian
In 2024 Future Acaderny UK supported volunteerteathers working for our sister tharlty, Future Academy,
In Lebanon, provldln8 fundlng towards travel and IFvTrrva costs. Volunteer teather Chris spent eight months
In Beirut, teaching in Burj Barajneh and 5hatila refu8ee ￿fflps. 188 students participated in educatlonal
charitsble actlvltles led by Chrls, working alongside football coaches and teachers from the l(Kal refugee
community. Two Beirut-based teacher5 also volunteered their tirne arKI expertise." Tala provided maternity
cover for 3 months and Jake delivered kick-b)xin8 ma5terda55es to Burj BaraSneh students.

In September 2024. the Isn7ePHe2bolloh conflict escaloted. with a sustoined
bombing canpoign in southern Lebanon spreading to Beirut Apwoximately
one million people wereinternally displaced. and more thon 4,CWwere killed.
Although 8urJ Burojneh ondshatslo camps were not dirertly torgeted, mory
residentsfled in seorch ofsofer shelter. Volunteer teocher Chris remoinedin

the end of November.
In 2024, two trustees made self-fvnded trips to Beirut They met the Future
Academy (FAJ team andbenefici0ri£s,' w5ited the camps where FA operute,-
observed ondparticipatedin some of the activities" ondsaw the positive imwrt
oAFuture Academy UK'sfvnoVng.

Future Plans
Our aims for 2025 areto:
Support partner charitie5 by prowding travel-related expenses forteachers volunteertng their servi￿5
overseas. Expenses for other costs inojrred by teachers on long terrn placements may be considered. The
trustees will assess each case on an individual basis. Volijnteer teachers will provide written and
photographic eviden￿ and partner tharities will provide an impact statement atthe end of eadi
placement

The Trustees confirm that they have cornplied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public
beThef￿ published by the Charity Commission in exerdslre thelr powers and duties. The public benefit of the
CharlW5 activltSes is to advance In lrfe and relievethe needs of refijgees, up to the age of 18; this is
athieved by provlding the children with regular educational activitles which enable them to partiapate in

Structure. Governance and Mana8ement
Future Academy UK wa5 reglstered as a CIO with the Charltles Commis4on In August 2020. The govemlng
document Is the CharFty Commlsslon'5 Foundation Model cons￿On. Future Academy has a board of five
Trustees, who have a varied skillset
Three Trustees are key offldals who are responsibleforthe day-ttrday runnlng of the tharlty. The Chair is
appolnted to the board for an initial period of four years.. the trea￿fer and secretary are appointed for
three years; and the remaining two Trustees are appolnted for two years. IExlstln8 Trustees may be
reappointed for additional terms).
The Trustee5 will consider recruitment of new Trustee5 a5 the need arlses. Appllcat5on5 from sultable
candidates would be sought by identifying swcific gaps In professional skills and seeking recommendatlons
of professlonally qualrfied candidates, if necessary. placing advertisements in suitable publications.
Applicants would be provided with an inforrnation pack outlining the history of the organlsation, Its
structure, artlvltles and objectlves, roles and expectatlons of Trustees plus other relevant supporting
Infomatlon. Al new Trnstees re￿1ve coples of the Govemire Dor￿men[ the latest annual rewrt and
accounts.
The board meets as often as necessary; as o￿lIned in the Governing l)ocument, meetings may be held
electronically providing Trustees are able to communicate with all other participants. The quorum for
meetin8s is 2 Trustees. Future Academy UK policies are reviewed bythe Trustees on an annual basls alon8
with the rlsk register.
Financial Review
Future Academy UK raises funds from the publ14 charitable trusts and workplace glvln8 schemes. Some
funds are restricted to Future Academy I￿rUt) charstsble activtties," all other funds are unrestricted. We do
not use professional fundraisers. When revenue reaches £25.0￿ Future Academy UK will be required to
have their accounts independently exarnined. Until th*time the accounts wlll be reviewed by Trustees not
involved in the day-to-day running of the activities.
In 2024 totsl receipts were £6,872 and expenditure totslled £8,081.
All expendwture on tharitable actÈvitie5 related to three volunteer teachers working in two refugee camps in
Beirut. In addition, £102 was spent on governan￿ (bank thargesl and £89.15 on raisin8 funds (website
costs). Cash fund5 remaining at the end of December 2024 amounted to £8,982
We estimate both income and expenditure in 2025 will be approximately £9.0(KJ.

Remuneration of KLY Management Personnel
Future Academy UK does not pay any Key Management Personnel.
Trustee Expenses
Future Academy UK does not pay trustee expenses.
ReseThes Poury
The Trustees alm to maintain reserves allowir* Future Atademy UK artiNities to run for 6-12 months. This
will provide stsbilty and enables us to honour our commitments to refugee children. Our current reserves
equate to roughly 12 months, which suggests we are rn3intainir¥ an appropriate level of liquidity whilst
ensurlng that excesslve funds are not accumulated. The adequary of thls pollcy Is revlewed annually.

risks anticipated lor 2025 i￿lUde sustainln8 revenue streams and coverln8 5ncreased safety and securlty
costs for volunteer teachers as a result of the on8oln8 confilct In Lebanon.
