Aims and Objectives The Future Academy Trustees review the aims. objectives and activities of the charity each year in January. Thls report looks at what the tharity has achieved; the outcomes of its work in the reportin8 period and the benefit brought to the young people it supports. The Trustees have referred to the guidance contained in the tharity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charivs aims and objectives and in planning its future activitles. In particular the Trustees consider how the planned activities will contribute to the aims and objertives that have been set. Future Academy UK plans to further its objects by providing financial support to enable volunteer teachers (from partner, UK-registered tharities) to deliver charitable activities to refu8ee children both In the UK and overseas. Achlevements and Performance Future Academy UK has enabled one teacher to volunteer for our sister charity. Future Academy. in Lebanon. Future Academy UK provided funding to cover travel related costs and an allowance towards livin8 expenses. In 2022, volunteer teacher Chris spent 245 days in Beirut - teaching in two refugee camps.. Burl Baraineh and Shatila. In total 120 students have partiapated in edutational charitable activtties led by Chris, working alongside football coathes and teachers from the local refugee community. In Shotila Comp, English les50n5 take place on the pitch afterfootball troining.
In Buri Barajneh Camp. Future Acodemy runs o school alongside itsfootball academy. Chns teothes two classes of students aged 7-14 yet7rs. Future Plans Our aims for 2023 are to: Support partner charities by providing travel-related expenses for teachers volunteering their serViS overseas. We may also be able to provide a living allowance grant for teachers on long term placements. The trustees will asse55 each application on an individual basi5. Volunteer teachers will pmvide written and photographic eviden and partner charities will provide an impart statement at the end of ead) placement. Public Benefrt The Trustees confirm that they have complled wlth their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising their powers and duties. The public benefit of the ChariWs actr¥ities is to advance in life and relieve the needs of refugees, up to the age of 18: this is achieved by providing the children with regular educational activities which enable them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible citizens. Structure. Governance and Management Future Academy UK wa5 registered as a CIO with the Charities Commisslon In August 2020. The governin8 document is the Charity Commission's Foundatlon Model Constitution. Future Academy has a board of five Trustees. wl)o have a varied skillset. Three Trustees are key officials who are responslble for the day-to-day running of the charlty. The Chalr Is appointed to the board for an initial period of four years: the treasurer and secretary are appointed for the years: and the remaining two Trustees are appointed for two years. (Existing Trustees may be reappointed for addttional terms). The Trustees will consider recruitrnent of new Tnstees as the need arises. Applications from sultable candidates would be sought by identfying specific gaps in professional skills and seeking recornmendations of professionalty qualified candldates. rf nesary, placing advertisements in suitable publications. Applicants would be provided with an information pack outlining the history of the organisation, its Structure. artivities and objertives, roles and expectations of Trustees plus other relevant supporting information. The board meets a minimum of twice a year; as outlined in the Goveming Document, rneetings may be held elertronically providing Trustee5 are able to communicate with all other participants. The quorum for meeting5 is 2 Trustee5. Future Academy UK policies are reviewed by the Trustees on an annual basis ak)ng with the risk register.
Financial Review Future Academy UK raises funds from the general public. charitable trusts and workplace giving schemes. Some funds are restrirted to Future Academy (Beirut) charitable activities,. all other funds are unrestricted. We do not use professional fundraisers. When revenue reaches £25.(MXI Future Academy UK will be required to have their accounts independently examined. Until that time the accounts will be reviewed by Trustees not involved in the day-to4ay runnin8 of the activities. In 2022 totsl receipts were £7.713 and expenditure totalled £7,589. All expenditure on charitable artlvrties related to sending one volunteer teacher to work In two refugee camps in Beirut for a total of 245 days. Cash funds remalning at the end of December 2022 amounted to £8,894. We estimate expenditure in 2023 will be approximately £ll,Cth. Remuneratlon of Key Management Personnel Future Academy UK does not pay any Key Management Personnel. Trustee Expenses Future Academy does nrt pay trustee expenses. Reserves Pollcy The Trustee5 aim to maintain reserves allowlng Future Acaderny UK activities to run for six months. This wlll provlde stability and enables us to honour our commitments to refu8ee children. Our current reserves equate to roughly 9 months, which suggests we are maintaining an appropriate level of liquidty whilst ensuring that eX$s1ve funds are not accurnulated. The adequacy of this policy is reviewed annually.
