Structure & Management
The H O Charity was registered as a CIO Foundation on 3 August 2020. Its trustees are the Vicar and two Churchwardens of St Mary the Virgin, the Church of England Parish Church in Stotfold, Bedfordshire. The H O Roe Charity is the governing body. It is assisted in the day-to-day running a community centre called the Roecroft Centre and the maintenance of a residential rental property at 97 Church Road by H O Roe Management Committee, which consists of the three Trustees of the H O Roe Charity, plus a treasurer, secretary and an appointed member, who are all appointed by the Trustees.
Activities and objectives in 2023
Regular hiring at the Roecroft Centre was healthy and long-term tenants of the residential property continued.
The Charity continued to advance the Christian religion through grants to St Mary’s Church to help fund an Associate Minister/Schools Chaplain.
The H O Roe Charity embarked on a major refurbishment of the Roecroft Centre by giving the former Victorian school an entrance, internal floors and toilets accessible to the disabled and added a catering kitchen. Grants were obtained and work began on 9 September 2023.
Financial Review:
Total income for 2023, excluding grants for the refurbishment, was £27,840 compared to £26,099 in 2022. The hire income was reduced by the centre being closed for refurbishment during the last four months of the year.
Expenditure on maintenance and running costs of 97 Church Road and the Roecroft Centre (including a one-off charge on the carpark of £6,606), was £22,422.
By the end of 2023, the charity received £124,000 in grants for the refurbishment. By the end of the year, the Charity paid £164,190 on the project.
It ended the year with cash of £72,978, compared with £107,750 in 2022.
