Maln actlvltles for the publlc benefft
TBT partners wrth churches across the UK to provide training,
resources and support, enabling them to dèliver intergenerational
storytelling sessions with local families and older adults in ca
homes and the communty.
1.19
These ses8ion8 can take place in care homes, in churches or online
and have been designed Spe￿fiCallY to involve. encourage and fulfil
811 guests. The trained Storyteller from the Partnor Church leads the
group in some nursery rhymes. tells a short bespoke story, and using
a hand-sewn bag covered in pwkets and full of prop8, the group all
share memories and imaginative ideas together. The sessions have
Christian roots and references bLrt are enjoyable for those of any
faith and none.
Everyone is equal and valued and belongs. regardless of their age or
stage. It is this irrterdependence and mutualty that means TBT 15 in
ts very essence, socially inclusive and combative against loneliness
and isolation. The sessions act as a vehicle to facilitate the building
of authentic, long4asting and supporttve relationships outside of the
group context.
Statement ¢onfiming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public

In supporting the aciivities of TBT. the Trustees have given
consideration to the guKlan¢e on wblic benefft issued by the

It is impossible to fully paint the picture of how the project
is impacting individual beneficiaries, but we ask each
Storyteller to submit their refiections after every se89ion
and above left are a few of their highlights, of which there
are many similarfy.
b. JubS100 giveaway
The Jubilee was the perfect occasion to brfng together
people from all generations to18am from one another
and celebrate. We took this opportunity to promole the
project by giving away a new story, session plan, songs
and various training workshops. Rep￿SentativeS frorn 20
toddler groups attended the worf(shop$ and downloaded
our resources so that they could help Peop￿ of all ages
have an increased sense of belonging at that time. One
partictpant said. "I w88 trying to pull something together
myseff exactty like this, but you offer such a great
slwduro- Ihank youl"
c. Nalional span
The profile of the charity has increased over Ihe year,
thanks to our growing socaal media following, our Jubileè
giveaway and the number of projects now active. This
has meant that we are in wntact wrth interested potential
partners in all four nats'ons of the United Kingdom.
d. Cinnamon Recommènded Project stat
Our relthonship viith Cinnamon Network has continued
and having met their criteria for successful replications,
we were awarded the accolade of becoming a Cinnamon
Recommended Project. This puts Truth Be Told
alongside many other tTUSted soclal action projects who
also have a transfomiative impact on their communiti6s
such as CAP Debt Advice, Trussell Trust Food Banks
and Ho
Into Action.

2) Increasln
workin
with other or
anisatlons
The national scale of loneliness and isolation, affected further by the
pandemic, is too great for organisations like ours to work in a silo. To
have the maximum impact, there is strength in number and so it has
been a pleasure to be invrted to collaborate wrth rnore prestigious
organisations wf(h al￿ned vision and values this year.
Advocacy
TBT represented Chnstians Together Against Loneliness
(CTAL) at a meeting with the Loneliness team at the
Department for Media. Culture and Sport in May. We
were able to irKrease their understanding of the part
churches play in tackling social isolation an¢J offer our
ongoing supkM)rt and commitment to their loneliness
agenda.
li
b. Collaboratlon
The TBT team have had the opp¢)rtunty to Speak publicly
to the supporters of Fatth in Later Life, the Baptist Union
and Premier Christian Radio about our work and the part
we play in tackling loneliness and a(fvancing the
Christian faith. We are also working with HOPE Togèther
and the Growing Faith Foundation among others to best
deliver our shared purpose, equipping and empowering
0th8r8 to work for a deeper sense of belonging and faith.
c. Innovallon
Detem)ined to ty new and innovatrve ways to find and
help transfom the lives of those most lonely and in need
of hope, we have been innovating with othar
organigations this year. Amongsl other initiatives we have
been exploring creative ways to deliver more content to
more p80ple and developing our resources to facilrtata an
intergenerational tefriending approach for those older
adults who are at particular risk of isolation and
lonelin8s8.

Financial Review
Review of the charrty's
financial position at the
end of the period
1.21
The charFty's financial posrtion is healthy and can fund the immediate
ans to further its strategy, although dependant on securing fLrture
grant-fijnding and continued church LI￿n￿ Fees. In order to increase
impact and the public benefft, there are no plans to make significant
investment in assets at this stage, rather it is necessary to increase staff
reSoUr￿s. It is the chanty's approach to appoint part-time specialists to
roles so that experb'se can be maximised, and business continuity
maintained.
Grarrts during the year were gratefvlly received from:
PramaLife
Bishop Radford Trust
Valentines Trust
TBTS social action franchise model means that Partner Churches
contribute to the running of their project by paying a Launch Fee and a
monthty Licence Fee to the tharity (although this can be covered by
grant income if necessary rf it wrll enable impact). This will mean that
the charity becomes more self-sustsining as the numb8r of Partn8r
Churches grow.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserve8
stating why they are held
The chanty recognises the piropriety of not building up funds for which
there are no clear expendtture plans. The charities, policy is to allow
reserves to accrue to a level of th￿ months. averag8 expenditure.
plus funds which may be eamiarked for specific projects in the future
As the charity is growing. reserves may onty exceed this policy level in
order to be able to respond positively to new opportunrties. This
situation 1$ monitored to ensure that rwd8Nes do not build up
