Objectives and activities

The objects of the CIO are:

“To further or benefit of the inhabitants of Abbey Hulton ("the area of benefit") without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race, age, disability, nationality, or of political, religious or other opinions, by associating together the said inhabitants, the registered social landlord (RSL) and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise, the

trustees shall have power: to establish, or secure the establishment of, or otherwise acquire, a community centre ("the centre") and to maintain and manage the same (whether alone or in co-operation with any local authority or other person or body) in furtherance of these objects.”

The CIO is based in the heart of Abbey Hulton, an area of deprivation. We intend to operate and maintain a small community centre with a garden and run activities and events aimed to improve the mental and physical well-being of people in the area and build cohesion in our community.

The Trustees confirm that they have had regard to the Charity Commission Guidance on public benefit in directing the work of the charity.

Achievements and performance

The CIO was established in 2020 with the intention of transferring the assets and operations of an existing unincorporated association to the CIO. Due to delays in opening bank accounts this has not yet taken place. Accordingly, the CIO has not undertaken any activities and so has no achievements or performances to report. Details of the operations of the existing charity Sutton Trust Community Group (charity number: 1118434) can be found in the filings for that charity.

Financial review

The CIO has had no income nor incurred any expenditure in the reporting year because all operations remain with the existing charity Sutton Trust Community Group (charity number: 1118434).

Declaration

The Trustees declare that they have approved the Trustees’ report and financial statements above.
