TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024

The Trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the financial statements and comply with the CIO's constitution, the Companies Act 2006 and “Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016)

The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective I January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

The principal objectives of Aid Lanka are:

The prevention or relief of poverty worldwide

By providing grants, items, and services to individuals in need and/or to other charities or organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty. This includes, but is not limited to, the provision of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and other essential needs for disadvantaged individuals and families.

The promotion of education for public benefit

Including the social and physical training of people in the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka, in such ways as the charity trustees think fit. This may include, but is not limited to:

(a) Awarding scholarships, maintenance allowances, or grants tenable at any university, college, or institution of higher or further education;

(b) Supporting educational facilities, training centres, and skill development programmes aimed at empowering individuals to improve their livelihoods;

(c) Providing educational resources and support for schools and students in underprivileged communities.

Financial Review

The Trustees are pleased to present a summary of the charity’s financial performance for the year.

During the reporting period, Aid Lanka continued to maintain its registration with the Charity Commission and uphold its compliance obligations. Although operational activities were minimal during this year, the Trustees remained steadfast in their commitment to the charity’s core objectives — the relief of poverty and the promotion of education both in the UK and overseas.

The Trustees continue to monitor the organisation’s financial position carefully to ensure stability and readiness for future project delivery as opportunities arise.
