## TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2022 

The Trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2022 

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the financial statements and comply with the CIO's constitution, the Companies Act 2006 and “Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2016) 

The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective I January 2019). 

## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** 

**The principal objectives of Aid Lanka are:** 

## **The prevention or relief of poverty worldwide** 

**By providing grants, items, and services to individuals in need and/or to other charities or organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty. This includes, but is not limited to, the provision of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and other essential needs for disadvantaged individuals and families.** 

## **The promotion of education for public benefit** 

**Including the social and physical training of people in the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka, in such ways as the charity trustees think fit. This may include, but is not limited to:** 

**(a) Awarding scholarships, maintenance allowances, or grants tenable at any university, college, or institution of higher or further education;** 

**(b) Supporting educational facilities, training centres, and skill development programmes aimed at empowering individuals to improve their livelihoods;** 

**(c) Providing educational resources and support for schools and students in underprivileged communities.**

## **Financial Review** 

During the financial year ended 31 December 2022, Aid Lanka continued to receive support from individual donors and community fundraising activities in the UK. The majority of funds were directed toward relief operations and educational support initiatives in Sri Lanka, particularly during the Ramadan Feed the Fasting Campaign. 

The trustees are satisfied that the charity’s financial position remains stable, with sufficient reserves to meet ongoing commitments and future project plans.

## **Reserves Policy** 

The trustees aim to maintain a level of unrestricted reserves equivalent to at least three months of operating costs. This ensures the charity can continue its work and respond to emergencies even in times of reduced income. At year end, unrestricted reserves stood at **£987** 

## **Risk Management** 

The trustees continually assess key financial and operational risks. Adequate controls and reporting mechanisms are in place to safeguard assets, maintain accountability, and ensure proper use of charitable funds.
