This includes, but is not limited to, the provision of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and other essential needs for disadvantaged individuals and families.** ## **The promotion of education for public benefit** **Including the social and physical training of people in the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka, in such ways as the charity trustees think fit. This may include, but is not limited to:** **(a) Awarding scholarships, maintenance allowances, or grants tenable at any university, college, or institution of higher or further education;** **(b) Supporting educational facilities, training centres, and skill development programmes aimed at empowering individuals to improve their livelihoods;** **(c) Providing educational resources and support for schools and students in underprivileged communities.** **3 |** P a g e _**Feed the Fasting Campaign – Extending Compassion and Hope during Ramadan**_ ## **Aid Lanka Annual Report 2021** ## **Overview** During the year Aid _Lanka_ continued its mission to bring relief, compassion, and hope to the most vulnerable communities across Sri Lanka. Through our **Feed the Fasting Campaign** , we aimed to ensure that disadvantaged families were able to observe Ramadan with dignity and nourishment. With the generous support of our donors and the tireless efforts of our volunteers in both the UK and Sri Lanka, we provided vital food support to hundreds of struggling families, enabling them to enjoy wholesome _Iftar_ and _Suhoor_ meals throughout the fasting month. This campaign was not just about providing food — it was about restoring hope, supporting spiritual resilience, and reminding our brothers and sisters that they are not forgotten. ## **Project Objectives** - To provide nutritious staple food items to disadvantaged families during the month of Ramadan. - To support fasting individuals and families in meeting their daily sustenance needs for _Iftar_ and _Suhoor_ . - To extend compassion, alleviate hunger, and promote community solidarity through charitable giving. ## **Phase 1 – Ramadan 2020 Assistance (Food Parcels to the Needy)** As of **28 April 2020** , Aid Lanka successfully distributed **over 200 food parcels** to vulnerable families in rural villages across Sri Lanka. Each parcel contained essential items sufficient for the month of Ramadan, including: **Rice, flour, sugar, dhal, potatoes, milk, and onions** , among other staples. These provisions helped ensure that families were able to break their fasts with dignity and maintain the energy required for worship during the holy month. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters and volunteers for their unwavering commitment to this cause. ## **Phase 2 – Extended Ramadan 2020 Assistance (Food Parcels & Financial Aid)** Building on the success of Phase 1, we launched a **second phase** to reach even more families in need. This stage included **both food parcel distributions and financial assistance** to help the most disadvantaged communities sustain themselves through Ramadan. **4 |** P a g e ## **Areas of Distribution** - **Pulmodai** , Trincomalee District, Eastern Province - **Valaichchenai** , Batticaloa District, Eastern Province The beneficiaries in these regions were identified as among the most vulnerable, many of whom were struggling to access food, shelter, and medical care. Through this initiative, Aid Lanka provided essential relief and a sense of renewed hope to those facing extreme hardship. ## **Impact** - Over **200+ families** directly supported through food parcel distributions. - **Dozens more** received direct financial assistance to meet urgent household needs. - Hundreds of individuals were able to observe Ramadan with proper nutrition and spiritual peace. The collective generosity of our donors played a crucial role in achieving these outcomes. Building upon the success of our 2020–2021 Ramadan campaign, we aim to expand our outreach in future projects, focusing on sustainable community development, education, and livelihood support. The majority of funds were directed toward relief operations and educational support initiatives in Sri Lanka, particularly during the Ramadan Feed the Fasting Campaign. The trustees are satisfied that the charity’s financial position remains stable, with sufficient reserves to meet ongoing commitments and future project plans. ## **Reserves Policy** The trustees aim to maintain a level of unrestricted reserves equivalent to at least three months of operating costs. This ensures the charity can continue its work and respond to emergencies even in times of reduced income. At year end, unrestricted reserves stood at **£1,034** ## **Risk Management** The trustees continually assess key financial and operational risks.
