Annual Report to Trustees 2024/25 By David Purslow (Trustee)
Introduction
The Charity was formally registered on 3[rd] August 2020 with the aim to provide a focus for supporting children and young people’s education and wellbeing.
The Charity started the year with a balance of £98.67 and had an additional in year income of £8,530.66, which after expenditure for both projects and shared running and administration costs left a closing balance of £2,474.78 All projects are to continue in the year ahead.
Projects Overview
“Christmas Presence 2024”
The aim was to again provide vulnerable children across Shrewsbury with an Easter Egg. We again worked in collaboration with Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Social Care Teams to deliver chocolate treats for all the children in Shropshire who are housed in refuges or temporary accommodation.
Funding came from a number of sources, with the bulk being along with generous donations from individuals and Masonic Lodges across the county. This was used for purchasing presents for 250 Children aged 0-18. A group of volunteers wrapped the presents and they were delivered to the Care Team offices for distribution ready for Christmas. Donations of £4630 received against cost of £3761 for the total project. We reduced expenditure due to the donation of Teddy Bears from TLC, present donations from individuals and donated wrapping paper.
Easter Joy
The aim was to again provide vulnerable children across Shrewsbury with a little extra at Christmas in the form of a box of presents and treats. This year we worked in collaboration with Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Social Care Teams to provide parcels for all the children in Shropshire who are housed in refuges or temporary accommodation.
This year due to savings on other areas we were able to fund the Easter Egg project without additional fundraising. With discounted purchases the total cost was £578.97.

Project acknowledgements: Joanna Purslow (Volunteer Co-ordinator), The Rotary Club (Book Donations), Shropshire Masons (Donations & Volunteers) & Shrewsbury Food Hub (Donations). The project also acknowledges with grateful thanks the Martin Wilson School for allowing storage and preparation to take place on the school premises.
Baby Stop
Now in its fourth year the project continues to grow as needs increase in the present economic climate. With the use of social media and an informative website the baby shares average 60 families a month each leaving with preloved clothes and equipment along with additional essentials such as nappies and wipes if required. Alongside the shares, the project also supports other organisations and those in touch with vulnerable young families such as the Shrewsbury Ark, Refugee support for Ukraine and the hospital Neo-Natal and Midwife teams.
The BabyStop Shares have operated every month with an average of 40 families per share in attendance. Shares have taken place at The Martin Wilson School and also in Harlescott, Heath Farm and Meole.
Administration
Over the year the school has continued to provide copying and storage space. The Charity has now been asked to make an annual donation towards running costs. Moving forward the management of the BabyStop project in particular will need additional administrative expenditure to maintain its service to our communities. This will be achieved through focusing on grant applications over the year ahead.
