## Annual Report to Trustees 2022/23 By David Purslow (Trustee) 

## _**Introduction**_ 

_The Charity was formally registered on 3[rd] August 2020 with the aim to provide a focus for supporting children and young people’s education and wellbeing._ 

_The Charity started the year with a balance of £5542.07 and had an additional in year income of £5931.44, which after expenditure left a closing balance of £3148. All projects are to continue in the year ahead._ 

## _**Projects Overview**_ 

## _**“Christmas Presence 2022”**_ 

_The aim was to again provide vulnerable children across Shrewsbury with a little extra at Christmas in the form of a box of presents and treats. This year we worked in collaboration with Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin Social Care Teams to provide parcels for all the children in Shropshire who are housed in refuges or temporary accommodation._ 

_Funding came from a number of sources, with the bulk being a grant from the MCF and SMCA along with generous donations from individuals and Masonic Lodges across the county. This was used for purchasing presents for 250 Children aged 0-18. A group of volunteers wrapped the presents and they were delivered to the Care Team offices for distribution ready for Christmas._

The project also acknowledges with grateful thanks the Martin Wilson School for allowing storage and preparation to take place on the school premises._ 

## _**Additional Grants**_ 

_The Charity donated £150 to the Masonic Fishing Charity in aid of their providing a fishing experience for local children._

## _**Baby Stop**_ 

_Now in its third year the project continues to grow as needs increase in the present economic climate. With the use of social media and an informative website the baby shares average 60 families a month each leaving with preloved clothes and equipment along with additional essentials such as nappies and wipes if required. Alongside the shares the project also supports other organisations and those in touch with vulnerable young families such as the Shrewsbury Ark, Refugee support for Ukraine and the hospital Neo-Natal and Midwife teams._ 

_The BabyStop Shares have operated each month and covered the following locations:_ 

- _Castlefields & Ditherington - The Martin Wilson School_ 

- _Sundorne – The Holy Spirit Church_ 

- _Harlescott – Harlescott Grange Community Hub_ 

- _Sutton & Reabrook/Column – St Giles Church Hall_ 

- _Bagley/Quarry & Coton Hill – Bagley Social Club_ 

- _Monkmoor – Crowmoor School_ 

## _**Administration**_ 

_Over the year the school has continued to provide copying and storage space. This has now been accommodated in a purpose fitted room in the schools nurture hub. This was to be a temporary storage solution as new premises had been offered off the school site, however this offer was withdrawn in February 2023 and our search continues._
