Activity Conditions arising internationally in relation to Covid-19 continued to limit the charity’s activity to the development of quality assurance procedures for its proposed own-initiative projects and for prospective work led by other organisations using the charity’s grant funds. The Trustees have continued to observe practices in a number of organisations – including operations in one region of South East Asia - and they have refined the draft set of procedures with which the charity can make ex-ante and ex-post assessments to ensure simultaneously the level of both accountability and effectiveness that is required to secure offers of endowments. These procedures will be finalised when observations are completed and will be presented to the donors whose continuing offer of funds will be taken up when circumstances permit.
The period also allowed an extension of the dialogue with more experienced people in the charity sector in order to develop the Trustees’ awareness of the challenges and opportunities likely to be encountered, especially with regard to remote supervision, secure reporting and other processes that might be vulnerable.
It remains a priority intention to recruit additional trustees but also to draw on others with international experience who could help them to position the charity more easily or effectively.
Finance The Trustees again used personal funds to meet the costs associated with the charity’s preparations and will continue to do so until donor funds are introduced. No income or reportable expenditure occurred in the year.
