Activity Conditions arising internationally in relation to Covid-19 limited the charity’s activity to the development of quality assurance procedures for its proposed own-initiative projects and for prospective work led by other organisations using the charity’s grant funds. The Trustees have informed their discussion over the past year by observing practices in a number of organisations with a commitment to excellence across a range of fields and they have drafted a set of procedures with which the charity can make ex-ante and ex-post assessments to ensure simultaneously the level of both accountability and effectiveness that is required to secure future endowments. These procedures will be presented to the donors whose continuing offer of funds will be taken up when the pandemic has subsided to a level allowing the quality assurance procedures to be applied.
The charity will require premises equipped with technology suitable for the effective management of large- and wide-scale activities involving secure data. A Trustee with specialist knowledge in this field has produced a specification brief that will be issued to selected commercial property agents and prospective technology supply partners at an appropriate point.
The Trustees have also used the hiatus since registration to engage with a range of charitable organisations to discuss with sector colleagues in several countries their experiences concerning the roles of patrons and others, with particular attention to added value. It is their intention to recruit additional trustees but also to draw on individuals with international experience who could help them to position the charity more easily or effectively. In this regard, a small number of conversations have started in anticipation of rapid growth when the pandemic has subsided.
Finance The Trustees met privately any costs associated with the charity’s preparatory activities and will continue to do so until conditions allow funds from waiting donors to be called on. No income or reportable expenditure occurred in the year.
