## **1. Objectives and Activities** 

The Dr Tunde Aladesanmi Foundation for Road Safety was established in memory of Dr Tunde Aladesanmi and six senior doctors whose lives were tragically lost in a road traffic crash in Nigeria. The Foundation’s primary objectives are: 

- To promote road safety awareness and reduce road traffic-related injuries and deaths. 

- • To educate schoolchildren on road safety practices, particularly during school break times. 

- To advocate for improved road safety legislation and enforcement. 

- To collaborate with governmental and non-governmental organisations to advance safe transport systems in Nigeria. 

## **2. Achievements and Performance (April 2024 – April 2025)** 

During the reporting period, the Foundation achieved the following: 

- Hosted the first annual Dr Tunde Aladesanmi Memorial Lecture on Road Safety and Preventive Trauma Care, attended by public health stakeholders and educators. 

- Engaged with the Oyo State Ministry of Education and Ministry of Transportation to gain institutional support for road safety education in schools. 

- Designed and distributed child-friendly road safety flyers and posters in both English and Yoruba.

## **3. Financial Review** 

The Foundation’s finances were managed prudently during the year. Key points: 

- Total income for the year: 0 

- Total expenditure: 0 

- Surplus/deficit for the period: 0 

- The majority of expenses related to educational material production, ambassador stipends, and administrative costs- paid out of pocket 

- No trustee received any remuneration during the year. 

## **4. Structure, Governance, and Management** 

- The Foundation is governed by a board of trustees in accordance with its constitution. 

- Trustees meet quarterly (or as needed) to review strategy, approve projects, and oversee finances. 

- During the year, the following served as trustees:

- Dr. Banji Adeyoju 

- Dr. Abel Adegoke 

Trustees bring expertise in trauma care, public health, anaesthesia, and community engagement. 

## **5. Plans for the Future** 

In the 2025–2026 financial year, the Foundation aims to: 

- Expand the Road Safety School Initiative to an additional 20 schools. 

- Train 50 volunteer educators and increase community outreach. 

- Develop partnerships with corporate sponsors for sustainable funding.

- Begin advocacy for inclusion of Road Safety Education in the national primary school curriculum. 

- Explore digital tools for teaching and monitoring school road safety clubs. 

## **6. Public Benefit Statement** 

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance. All activities undertaken are intended to benefit the public through improved road safety awareness and practices.
