Structure, Governance and Management
The Greek School of Manchester is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

The Board of Trustees are elected by the members of the CIO each year.

Objectives and Activities
The charitable purposes of Greek School of Manchester are to advance the Greek language and culture and to enhance the educational experiences of children young people and adults living in Manchester who attend it in particular but not exclusively by:
(a) providing for instruction and the opportunity to converse in the Greek language via variety of activities, educational, material, projects, contests and events
(b) providing of the observance of Greek customs, festivals and ceremonies, promoting an intercultural dialogue that highlights the importance of respecting others
(c) offering the opportunity to students of all ages to obtain official qualifications/ Certificates of attainment in modern Greek language as a foreign /second language organised by various providers, including but not restricted to Pearson Edexcel (UK) and the Hellenic Culture centre (Greece)
(d) undertaking other activities to enhance the educational and cultural outcomes of its students
Achievements and Performance
In its fifth year of operation, the Greek School of Manchester achieved a significant growth both in the number of its registered members and financially, and continued to establish its position as a reputable, responsible and esteemed community school.
In the school year 2024-2025 our number of students increased to 59.
In June 2025, we held our Annual General Meeting during which the Board of Trustees presented the school’s Annual Report (2023-2024) and its financial position, and called for elections. The elections were held in June 2025 and a new Board of Trustees was appointed as follows:

We have made significant strides in enhancing the educational experience for our students, including submitting the portfolio for the Higher Quality Accreditation Award by Manchester City Council (awarded in 2026).
Additionally, we organised vibrant celebratory events, including festivities for Christmas, Carnival and Summer, providing opportunities for our community to come together and

celebrate our heritage.
These achievements stand as a testament to our ongoing commitment to providing quality education and fostering a sense of cultural pride among our students.
Financial Position 2024-2025
A review of the Greek School of Manchester’s financial position at the end of the financial year is presented below by the Board of Trustees.
In the financial year 2024 to 2025, the Greek School of Manchester had an income of £31,757 and an expenditure of £32,334. The balance brought forward from the financial year 2023-24 was £7,569.
A brief overview of the Charity’s financial and position is as follows:

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have examiner's statement come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: ● accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or ● the accounts do not accord with the accounting records I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. * Please delete the words in the brackets if they do not apply.

No concerns have been identified.
In the prior year, I noted a concern regarding the understatement of expenses however this has been corrected in the current year. The Greek School of Manchester has created a separate spreadsheet with all detailed supplier invoices and has reconciled our detailed expenses report every month end, to ensure all expenses are being recorded correctly.
Overall, I am satisfied that the financial statements give a fair presentation of the financial performance of the entity.
Therefore, an unqualified audit opinion has been expressed.
In my opinion the financial statements:
give a true and fair view of the state of the charitable company's affairs as at 31 August 2025 and of its incoming resources and application of resources, including its income and expenditure, for the year then ended; have been properly prepared in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice; and
have been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006, the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 and regulation 8 of the Charities Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 2006 (as amended).
