1. Fund raising for WDGRS

The purpose of this project was to help the homeless in High Wycombe through the charity organization Wycombe Rent Deposit Guarantee Scheme (WDGRS). They were trying to raise GBP 7,000 and we decided to have a 10 km sponsorship walk to support their cause. We were able to collect money through donations from friends and family and by advertising in the local church newsletters. We raised GBP 1000 which was gratefully acknowledged by WDGRS. The details were already submitted to the charity commission as a part of registering ELF UK as a charity. Also detailed out in the attached PowerPoint presentation.

2. Helping London based international students in UK during the COVID-19

Pandemic.

This was a project aimed at helping overseas students, who are currently unable

to do part-time work due to lockdown restrictions. These students were

struggling to pay rent and make ends meet and many of them were close to starvation. Also, the prospect of returning home was non-existent due to the nonavailability of flights. In fact, the BBC covered this harrowing plight of these students in one of their news programs.

For this we teamed up with Indian Business Network (IBN), who had already started this charity venture. After discussion in the committee, it was decided to

render support to this initiative for these struggling students in May and June 2020 in Hounslow, Ilford etc. by supplying essential food items for sustainability. The details were already submitted to the charity commission as a part of registering

ELF UK as a charity. Also detailed out in the attached PowerPoint presentation.

3. Autorickshaw Project

This project helped to provide, a 71 year auto driver, Govindan in Kerala, India with a new autorickshaw. Govindan comes from a less privileged background and is the main income earned in his entire household. He had lost his previous autorickshaw in the 2019 Kerala floods. ELF UK decided to provide a new autorickshaw for Govindan so he could continue to support his family. Thanks to the support given by ELF, Govindan is able to continue supporting his family.

4. Auto drivers Food kit donation Project.

For this project ELF UK donated money to help provide 50 autorickshaw drivers and their families, who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with food kits. The families are from the Rama Puram Panchayat area in Kerala, India and from under privileged background. Each food kit would provide a family with a months’ worth of groceries.
