## **Trustees Annual Report 2023-2024** 

## **Introduction** 

The past year has been one of growth, commitment, and continued support for families and children undergoing treatment. Through various initiatives, events, and partnerships, we have strengthened our mission to provide comfort, awareness, and assistance to those in need. 

## **Key Activities and Achievements** 

## **Engagement with Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH)** 

- In January and February 2024, we were invited to GOSH to discuss the re-build of the main entrance, ensuring better accessibility and support for families. 

- Our volunteer and Ambassador, Samantha Garland, attended a Young Visitor Program at GOSH. 

- We participated in discussions and the introduction of a palliative care room, which has now been successfully trialed and implemented. 

- Easter goodie bags were shared with children at GOSH and William Harvey Paediatric Ward. 

- Christmas gifts, including the special MARBLE BEARS, were delivered to children at GOSH in December 2024. 

## **Fundraising and Awareness Events** 

- Each year, our members have attended the London Marathon, assisting at the Children's Cancer Charity station. 

- In June, we actively participated in the annual Walks for Life event, offering support to our fellow Cupcake Angels and raising funds for cancer care. 

- Cupcakes were distributed at local GP surgeries during International Cancer Days to spread awareness and show support. 

- Our monthly bulletin board/notice board in GP surgeries has been updated consistently, raising awareness through various campaigns, which has been a great success. 



## **Spreading Love in Pediatric Oncology Wards** 

- Funds were used to spread love at pediatric oncology wards across South Africa by delivering educational care bags to more than 1,000 patients at 20 pediatric wards. This initiative helped provide comfort, educational resources, and emotional support to young patients undergoing treatment. 

## **Looking Ahead** 

As we move into 2024-2025, we aim to further expand our support programs, enhance our engagement with hospitals and continue our advocacy for better accessibility and awareness in childhood cancer care. 

We extend our deepest gratitude to all our volunteers, donors, and supporters who have made this year such a success. Your generosity and dedication continue to make a difference in the lives of many.
