| Activity | Conditions arising internationally in relation to Covid-19 continued to limited activity |
| to (a) the further development of the charity’s quality assurance procedures for its | |
| proposed own-initiative projects and for prospective activities led by other | |
| organisations using grant funds issued by the charity and (b) familiarisation with | |
| charitable activities complementary to Earthlabs’ proposed activities, with special | |
| attention to grant management practices. In this way, the Trustees have positioned | |
| themselves to better inform their decisions and their dialogue with putative donors | |
| and sponsors with very large funds to deploy in the form of endowments. It is | |
| expected that this dialogue will produce the first major endowment in 2023 and that | |
| the Trustees will continue to direct any offers of minor funds (<£1m) to charities | |
| considered to be excellent in those practices observed in the first eighteen months | |
| after Earthlabs’ registration. The charity remains fully committed to securing funds | |
| without competing against other charities in any global region. |
The Trustees also used the second year to develop their individual awareness of practices and experiences concerning the roles of volunteers in an effort to identify effective measures for recruitment and retention within the framework of project operations. This has been achieved principally through contacts made in the first year with sympathetic Trustees of charities that helped in the informal study of patrons in the charity’s first year.
Finance The Trustees continued to meet privately any costs associated with the charity’s preparatory activities and will continue to do so until conditions allow funds from high-value donors to be called on. No income or reportable expenditure occurred in the year.
