Trustee Report July 2020- July 2021
In our first year operating as a Registered Charity and indeed our first eighteen months of the establishment of Indie Rescue we have enjoyed a fantastic wave of support and good will from so many people.
Thirty nine dogs during this period were taken into rescue, all finding excellent homes within a very short space of time.
Offering 5 weeks free insurance with Agria meant that every dog was insured on exit for Foster with Adoption in Mind and the take up on full insurance from this company has grown steadily with dividends eventually coming through to Indie Rescue.
The original 5 Trustees welcomed the addition of Clare Winship as a sixth Trustee.
In March 2021 we launched a Supporters Club with three newsletters a year offering training tips, news about dogs coming through rescue and news of coming events as well as dog health based articles , the uptake was very pleasing and again helped us keep in contact with our supporters.
The Indie100 Club was also launched under licence, again the take up has been steady and has been welcomed as an alternative way to donate.
Fundraising was very active through the year with online events including auctions and photographic dog shows boosting funds as well as keeping Indie in the public eye. Grooming demonstrations proved very popular and our thanks go to Dee Milligan-Bott for her time and expertise.
Social media proved a boon , keeping in touch with adopters and supporters became easier as more people took to SM during periods of isolation. Our Facebook page quickly rose to 1,500 in the first month of operating and our Website received an average of 90 views per day, the most popular pages being “Available Dogs” and “Rehomed Dogs”
The Indie On-Line Shop was kept fairly busy with more traffic around the Christmas Holiday, as expected.
Certainly the Covid situation presented more challenges but dogs still needed help and we were able to offer that continuing help, with fantastic backing from our supporters we are happy to report our first year as a Registered Charity was a great success in every area.
