Charity name: ECF- Walthamstow

Charity registration number: 1190229

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 To advance the Christian faith for the
benefit of the public in Waltham Forest
and beyond, in accordance with the
Statement of Faith attached to this
constitution, in particular but not
exclusively for the Tamil speaking
community
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
Our activities are often run by volunteers
from within the church members and we
thank God for giving a variety of gifts to
his people to enable them to serve God
and one another
Our main activities are the provision of
Sunday worship services for children,
youth and adults.
Youth (ages 12 to 20s)
have their own service which is held at
the same time.
It has been a delight to see the Young
people leading worship during the adults
service whenever we have joint youth
and adults service.
The elderly and house bound vulnerable
adults continue to benefit and participate
in the Sunday services on line.
The prayer meetings are virtual and are
held
(weekly and monthly). We have on line
group Bible studies, pastoral care and
other outreach events.
ECF held the Annual General Meeting on
11th February 2023
We continue to encourage the church
community to keep trusting God, and to
keep following his commands, which are
good for them and for the wider
community.
We thank God for the Adults Baptisms in
2022. It is always a joy to see God’s
saving grace through this commitment
and their testimonies.
It was great to have many visitors joining
to see and hear their witness about the
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As a church many attended Franklin
Graham’s meetings at ExCeL London
held in July 2022. This gave us an
opportunity to invite non-Christian
friends and family.
Special Bible studies were conducted by
Revd Vasanthakumar virtually about the
church and its growth started in
September 2022. Bible notes was shared
to all the believers.
These studies challenged members of the
fellowship to continue to serve the Lord.
During Summer 2022 the church
organised a trip to Ramsgate beach.
We also had our Christmas Carol service
as well as the Good Friday and
Resurrection Day Service
We had a fellowship meal followed by
games after the service
We went carol rounds to visit particularly
those who invited us and unable to
attend church.
Their mood was uplifted by our lively
singing and prayers.
Ladies meetings and Men meetings were
held at church.
For Christmas ladies invited many friends
and had a great fellowship meal
Men from the church organised a
surprise breakfast for the ladies on
’Mothers day’
Church continues to have good
relationship with Waltham Forest
Community and particularly with the
Thamil Sangam
We make it a point to attend their events
and invite them for ours.

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Achievements
We are thankful to God for his financial
provision.
During this reporting year Church was
able to offer financial help for the needy
in India and Sri Lanka
A total amount of £2725 was sent to India
and SriLanka
we started kids worship for children
under 12 for kids to have their own time
of worship before they attend their
Sunday classes. This happens during the
adults Sunday service and the aim is to
teach and encourage kids how to worship
God through songs and prayer. Hence
worship and Praise songs are chosen to
suit their age group.
A ministerial team was set up and zoom
meetings held to encourage one another

and share their experiences. Main objective was for all believers to grow In the love and knowledge of Christ through God’s word. Practical advice of John Wesley was shared for Ministerial team to do God’s work cheerfully and rely on God alone Home group leaders were selected and equipped to teach others within their groups. Home groups had opportunity to study 1 Corinthians and 1 Peter. The series taught us about Godly responses to church and outside life’s challenges/sufferings and to warn us about the false teachings of the prosperity gospel. A new safe guarding officer was appointed as the previous person stepped down due to health issues at the last AGM. Pastoral work has included visiting members of the church and others within the wider community as and when the need arises This included hospital visits, elderly and suffering with ill health and those who are house bound. At their request Holy communion was given by Revd Vasanthakumr due to their inability to attend church.

Note 2 Accounting policies 2.2 INCOME

Recognition of income
This is included in the accounts when receipt is probable and the amount receivable can
These are included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SoFA) when:
• the charity becomes entitled to the resources;
• it is more likely than not that the trustees will receive the resources;
• the monetary value can be measured with sufficient reliability.
Grants and donations are only included in the SoFA when the general income recognition
criteria are met (5.10 to 5.12 FRS102 SORP).
Gift Aid receivable is included in income when there is a valid declaration from the donor.
Any Gift Aid amount recovered on a donation is considered to be part of that gift and is
treated as an addition to the same fund as the initial donation unless the donor or the
terms of the appeal have specified otherwise.
There has been no offsetting of assets and liabilities, or income and expenses, unless
required or permitted by the FRS 102 SORP or FRS 102.
Donated services and facilities are included in the SOFA when received at the value of
the gift to the charity provided the value of the gift can be measured reliably.
Offsetting
Grants and donations
This is only included in the SoFA once the charity has provided the related goods or
services or met the performance related conditions.
The cost of any stock of goods donated for distribution to beneficiaries is deemed to be
the fair value of those gifts at the time of their receipt and they are recognised on receipt.
In the reporting period in which the stocks are distributed, they are recognised as an
expense at the carrying amount of the stocks at distribution.
Donated goods for resale are measured at fair value on initial recognition, which is the
expected proceeds from sale less the expected costs of sale, and recognised in 'Income
from other trading activities' with the corresponding stock recognised in the balance
sheet. On its sale the value of stock is charged against 'Income from other trading
activities' and the proceeds from sale are also recognised as 'Income from other trading
activities'.
Goods donated for on-going use by the charity are recognised as tangible fixed assets
and included in the SoFA as incoming resources when receivable.
Donated goods are measured at fair value (the amount for which the asset could be
exchanged) unless impractical to do so.
Government grants
The charity has received government grants in the reporting period
Legacies
Tax reclaims on
donations and gifts
Legacies are included in the SOFA when receipt is probable, that is, when there has
been grant of probate, the executors have established that there are sufficient assets in
the estate and any conditions attached to the legacy are either within the control of the
charity or have been met.
Income from interest,
The charity has incurred expenditure on support costs.
Donated services and facilities that are consumed immediately are recognised as income
with an equivalent amount recognised as an expense under the appropriate heading in
the SOFA.
Gifts in kind for use by the charity are included in the SoFA as income from donations
when receivable.
Support costs
Donated goods
In the case of performance related grants, income must only be recognised to the extent
that the charity has provided the specified goods or services as entitlement to the grant
only occurs when the performance related conditions are met (5.16 FRS 102 SORP).
Volunteer help
The value of any voluntary help received is not included in the accounts but is described
in the trustees’ annual report.

The depreciation rates and methods used are disclosed in note 14.
They are valued at cost.

categories on a basis consistent with the use of resources, eg allocating property costs
by floor areas, or per capita, staff costs by the time spent and other costs by their usage.
Support costs have been allocated between governance costs and other support.
Governance costs comprise all costs involving public accountability of the charity and its
compliance with regulation and good practice.
The charity has creditors which are measured at settlement amounts less any trade
discounts
These are capitalised if they can be used for more than one year, and cost at least
Investment gains and
losses
Settlement of insurance
claims
Fixed asset investments in quoted shares, traded bonds and similar investments are
valued at initially at cost and subsequently at fair value (their market value) at the year
end. The same treatment is applied to unlisted investments unless fair value cannot be

Where there are no conditions attaching to the grant that enables the donor charity to
realistically avoid the commitment, a liability for the full funding obligation must be
recognised.

Stocks and work in

progress

Debtors

Current asset investments

Investments held for resale or pending their sale and cash and cash equivalents with a maturity date of less than 1 year are treated as current asset investments

Stocks held for sale as part of non-charitable trade are measured at the lower or cost or net realisable value.

Goods or services provided as part of a charitable activity are measured at net realisable value based on the service potential provided by items of stock.

Work in progress is valued at cost less any foreseeable loss that is likely to occur on the contract.

Debtors (including trade debtors and loans receivable) are measured on initial recognition at settlement amount after any trade discounts or amount advanced by the charity. Subsequently, they are measured at the cash or other consideration expected to be received.

The charity has investments which it holds for resale or pending their sale and cash and cash equivalents with a maturity date less than one year. These include cash on deposit and cash equivalents with a maturity of loss than one year held for investment purposes rather than to meet short-term cash commitments as they fall due.

They are valued at fair value except where they qualify as basic financial instruments.
