Manchester Street Poem - Trustees Report 01/06/22-31/05/23

Delivered our leadership program funded by We Love MCR, developing the skills of our core group towards being more effective and confident coproducers, facilitators and artists.
Commissioned by Manchester City Council to run a series of workshops at St. Peters High School, Gorton, creating a cardboard manifesto for Manchester’s “year of the child” campaign. This artwork was part of Wild in Art’s central Manchester art trail and featured in an exhibition at The Horsfall.
Secured our second Awards For All grant from The National Lottery to continue our leadership program for a further 3 months and to reach out to new cohorts. We collaborated with Survivors Manchester to run a series of storytelling workshops with male survivors of abuse and Partisan Collective to engage with people who identify as neurodivergent.
Commissioned by Hemingway Design to contribute art workshops to their We Invented The Weekend Festival. Unfortunately the passing of the Queen the day before meant that the festival was postponed.
Preparation for We Cut Through Dust in collaboration with Blast Theory to be delivered at MIF23 in June/July, including a writing retreat in Hebden Bridge and an intensive fundraising effort to bridge the gap between the amount Factory have contributed and the price of our ideal project.
As part of our fundraising efforts for WCTD we were able to secure our first multi-year core funding, 28k/year for 3years, affording us a level of sustainability previously unknown.
Commissioned by Moss Side Millennium Powerhouse to run a series of workshops prompting attendants at their 7-11 year old youth club to think about the environment and create informational posters.
Created a JustGiving account which raised nearly 3k when a friend of the charity ran a half marathon for us.

Over the next year we look forward to delivering We Cut Through Dust, our highest profile project to date. We aim to build on what we have learnt through this project and the attention it will bring us to continue to deliver ever more exciting projects in genuine co-production with some of our most marginalised communities. Our funding from Paul Hamlyn will afford us the resources to thrive that we haven’t had thus far.
