INTRODUCTION
TRUSTEES, ANNUAL REPORT
The Trustees of the Religions for Peace UK IRfPUKI are pleased to present their annual report,
together with the financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 31 March 2024. These
are also prepared to meet the reporting and accounting requirements as specified by the
Charity Commission.
This report provides an overview of the work of the RfPUK for the UK in 2023 - 2024. It
highlights the achievements and performance of the charity in this period, and highlights the
Charity's financial position and cash flow. The Trustees also provide an overview of the Charity's
activities and financial position for the year ended 31 March 2024.
OBJECTIVES OF THE RELIGIONS FOR PEACE UK
Religions for Peace United Kingdom IRfPUKI is a UK charitable incorporated organisation
ICIOlregistered with the Charity commission111900891. We are an independant chapter of
Religions for Peace International, which is a global organisation with a coalition of
representatives from the world's great religions dedicated to achieving peace.
Based upon deeply held moral principles widely shared by the world's faith tradition, RfPUK
continues to promote a positive notion of peace that acknowledges the well being of each
person in a multi-dimensional understanding, recognising individual and communal
responsibility of all to reject the misuse of religion in support of violence. RfPUK continues to
uphold RfP global key priorities in our work to deliver
ACTIVITIES OF THE RFPUK AND THEIR PU8LIC BENEFIT
The Trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity
Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Charity's aims and
objectives and in planning future activities.
RfPUK envisions a world where diverse faith communities collaborate for peace and shared
well-being. As part of the global Religions for Peace movement, we serve as an educational
platform and cross-border network. Actively engaging with European and international
partners, our strategic priorities align with the Sustainable Development Goals for an
interconnected, peaceful, and sustainable future. Its work benefits the public in the United

Kingdom by helping to support the development of inter faith understanding and cooperation,
serving a wide range of people and organi5ations. It achieves this through the activitie5 which
are detailed in thi5 report.

THE WORK OF THE RFPUK FOR THE UK IN 2023- 2024
The RfPUK carries Out its work of promoting interfaith understanding and cooperation through
its 7 priorities-.

Correspondingly, each objertive relates to one or more

underscoring our commitment to sustainability. Our strategic goals are interconnected, with
progre55 in one area positively impatting others.
RfPUK's Strategic Aims during the period were to..
l. Foster Multi-Faith Collaboration: Enhance collaboration among diverse faith and belief
communities in the UK to promote peace, harmony, and understanding.
2. Educational Outreach: Expand our educational platform and network to reach audiences
across Europe and the international arena, f05tering dialogue and cooperation towards
common objectives.
3. Engage Changemakers and Activists: Provide opportunities for changemakers and artivists
to collaborate across faith lines, leveraging their passion for social justice and posltive change.
4. Facilitate Interfaith Dialogue: Create spaces for individuals of various religious and belief
backgrounds to engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering understanding and cooperation.
5. Support Faith Leaders: Offer resources and guidance to religious leaders interested in
promoting peace and unity within their communities through interfaith dialogue and

collaboration.
6. Empower Community Leaders: Equip local leaders with the tools and resources necessary to
mobilise and inspire their communities toward5 peacebuilding and religious literacy.
7. Partner with Educational Institutions: Collaborate with schools, universities, and educational
organisations to incorporate religious literacy and interfaith dialogue into curricula. promoting
diversity and inclusion.
8. Influence Government and Policy: Engage policymakers, government officials, and
influencers in shaping policies that support religious freedom, tolerance, and community
cohesion, leveraging our expertise to inform and guide initiatives.
9. Engage Media Outlets.. Partner with media outlet5 and journalists to amplify stories about
interfaith collaboration, religious literacy, and peacebuilding, fostering greater understanding
and awareness among the general public.
10. Raise Public Awareness: Conduct public awareness campaign5 to promote religious literacy
and encourage engagement with diverse communities, contributing to the building of a more
harmonious society.
These aims were pursued in 2023 - 2024 through the strands of work outlined in our report.
At the core of RfPUK's mission are its seven priorities and the establishment of community
links. These connections are vital to our work, facilitating collaboration and engagement across
various sectors. The UK Youth Interfaith Network IUKYINI and UK Women of Faith Network
IUKWFNI play crucial roles in this endeavour. UKYIN represents o community of individuals,
including believers, students, and young professionals aged 18 to 32. who are actively involved
in driving positive change. Similarly, UKWFN serves as a platform for women of faith, who are
committed to promoting peace and justice within their communities. Both groups serve as
essential components of RfPUK's network, contributing diverse perspectives and expertise to
our shared goals of fostering understanding, cooperation. and peace.
UK WOMEN OF FAITH NETWORK (UKWFN)
Throughout the year, the UK Women of Faith Network IUKWFNI has been steadfast in it5
mission to unite diverse women of faith across the UK, fostering peace and empowerment
among leaders and supporters alike. Through collaborative effort5, UKWFN has made significant
strides in addressing global challenges, prornoting religious literacy, and confronting

gender-based issues, thereby highlighting the influential leadership and positive impact of
women in society.
Promoting Religious Literacy
Interfaith Dialogue on Dignity of Women {Cardiff, Wales): On 17 April, UKWFN organised an
evening of interfaith dialogue and learning on the 'Dignity of Women - Scriptural Reflections
exhibition hosted by Cardiff United Synagogue, the event brought together members from
diverse faith communities for insightful discussions and reflections on women's equality in
religion. Participants appreciated the opportunity to engage openly and honestly, emphasising
the importance of religious perspectives in promoting equality.
Gender Equality Symposium and the Dialogue to Action Toolkit Launch (London, England): On
15 June 2023, UKWFN convened a diverse group for the Gender Equality EmpowermentforAII
Symposium at St Ethelburga's Centre for Peace and Reconciliation. The event featured speakers
from past webinars and the Male Allies campaign against gender-based violence. The launch of
the Dialogue to Action Toolkit aimed to empower participants to bring discussions on women's
dignity and equality into their communities, fostering meaningful dialogue and tangible action.
Overcoming Gender-Based Challenges
16 Days of Artivism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign
The UK Women of Faith Network IUKWFNI actively participated in the annual international
campaign, 16 DGYS of Activism ogoinst Gender-Bosed Violence. Beginning on 25 November. the
International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and concluding on 10
December, the Human Rights Day. this campaign aimed to raise awareness and advocate for
the eradication of gender-based violence. UKWFN contributed to this cause by expanding its

Gender Equality Empowerment for All Symposium
The Gender Equality Empowermentfor All Symposium took place on 15 June 2023 at St

Ethelburga's Centre of Reconciliation and Peace in London. This event marked the culmination
of the Gender, Equality, Empowerment. and Peuce project and introduced the associated

Shaykh Ibrahim Mogra and Jeeves Rohilla were part of our VisibleAdvoco¢y.' Interfoith Mole
Allies in our Midst campaign, and supported us in the 15 June symposium. They shared their
perspectives on male allyship, particularly in addressing gender-based violence, and highlighted
their own efforts in promoting gender equality within faith communities. The discussions and

Week, 1-7 February 2023, expert speakers shared stories of inspirational women from the

Interfaith Dialogue and Women's Empowerment Initiative (Collaboration with the University
of Gla5gowl: UKWFN partnered with the University of Glasgow to launch an Interfaith Dialogue
and Women's Empowerment Initiative. comprising three significant elements-
Exhibition 'Dignity of Women- Scriptural Reflertions" This exhibition, from S
February to 6 March 2024 at the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel showcased scriptural
reflections on the dignity of women from various religious traditions, providing a platform to
explore and celebrate the diverse perspectives on women's dignity across faiths.
Discussion Session "Can Interfaith Dialogue Promote Gender Equity?" On 5 February
2024 at the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel, an introductory session was delivered by
Professor lain Mclnnes, followed by a brief description of interfaith chaplaincy at the University
of Glasgow by the Reverend Carolyn Kelly. The discu55ion, facilitated by Ravinder Kaur Nijjar,
delved into the impact of interfaith dialogue on promoting gender equity, fostering insightful
exchanges among participants.
Inspirdtional Women: Celebrating International Women's Day: On 6 March 2024 at
the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel, Dr. Maureen Sier moderated this hybrid event.
which featured esteemed panellists The Rt Revd Sally Foster-Fulton (Moderator, the General
Assembly of the Church of Scotlandl, Isadora Quay (CEO, the Gender in Emergencies Group),
and Dr. Nighet Nasim Riaz (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy Advisor, University of Glasgowl.
Together, they shared insights and experiences. celebrating the achievements and contributions
of women while discussing avenues for further empowerment and gender equality.
UK INTERFAITH YOUTH NETWORK (UKIYN)
In the past year, the UK Interfaith Youth Network IUKIYNI has remained dedicated to its core
principles of community service, ecological sustainability, and social justice, actively involving
young people through a diverse array of events and programs.
Youth Leadership Through Service
UKIYN has been instrumental in promoting youth leadership by empowering young individuals
to actively address societal challenges through service-oriented projects. By providing

opportunities for hands-on involvement, UKIYN has nurtured a generation of proactive leaders

Refugee Integration
A significant focus of UKIYN'S efforts has been on refugee integration, recognizing the
importance of 5UPPOrting and empowering refugees in their transition to life in the UK. The RfP
Humanitarian Fund Refugee Integration Project organised by Hillsong Church UK ran initiatives
aimed at fostering understanding, empathy, and community engagement. striving to create a
welcoming and inclusive environment for refugees to thrive.
UKIYN facilitated a series of sessions aimed at sharing experiences and furthering discussions
on various topics related to refugee integration, community engagement, environmental
sustainability, and social justice. These sessions provided valuable opportunities for participants
to deepen their understanding, exchange ideas, and gain practical insights for implementing
positive change in their communities.
Sharing the Refugee Integratlon Journey: This session delved into the experiences and
challenge5 faced by refugees in their integration journey into UK society, fostering empathy and

June 2023 - Community Cafe- This event focused on the refugee situation, the significance of
the Community Cafe, volunteer engagement, working with asylum seekers, and
trauma-informed practices. The event showcased the impactful efforts of volunteers in
supporting those in need.
September 2023 - Camber Sands: Refugee guests from various troubled regions were taken to
Camber Sands, offering them respite and a chance to connect with others while waiting for
decisions on their statuses. The initiative aimed to facilitate their integration into British society.
February 2024- Cambridge: So refugee guests from diverse backgrounds were taken on a
memorable journey through Cambridge. This day of exploration and education epitomised our
commitrnent to refugee integration and cultural exchange, fostering meaningful connections
and enriching experience5 for all involved.

The UKYIN EcoPeace Cafe has served as a unique platform for promoting environmental
awareness and sustainability practices among youth and the wider community. Through

CONFERENCES, INTERFAITH EVENTS & NETWORKING
RfPUK actively participated in global and regional interfaith networks and events, fostering
collaboration and addressing contemporary challenges. This involvement included
representation at Religions for Peace Europe and International meetings, participation in
interfaith summits and dialogues, recognition of women's contributions to interfaith work,
engagement in international campaigns against 8ender-based violence, collaboration with
other national chapters on environmental projects, and acknowledgement of RfPUK's efforts by
international organisations like the Parliament of the World's Religions and Religions for Peace
Italy.

RfPUK was represented at the European National Interreligious Bodies IENIBI Board meeting,

where UK Chair Cinde Lee was appointed Secretary to ENIB. Discussions addressed conflicts in
Europe and actions national chapters are preparing to address the impact in their communities.
29 September 2023: International Forum by IRCA in Tirana
The Interreligious Council of Albania IIRCAI hosted the International Forum in Tirana, with the
participation of EN IB (Religions for Peace Europe). The forum focused on interreligious
cooperation, with praise for Albania's model.
l October 2023: Interreligious Councils of Europe Visit to Albania
Leaders of the Interreligious Councils of Europe visited Albania, engaging with religious leaders
and institutions. The visit aimed to foster understanding and cooperation between European
and Albanian religious communities.
November 13-15 2023: European Policy Dialogue Forum in Rotterdam
The 5th edition of the European Policy Dialogue Forum, themed "Young People and Social
Inclusion in Citie5,' took place in Rotterdam. Organised by KAICIID, the forum aimed to promote
interreligious and intercultural dialogue and drive social inclusion and unity in Europe.
SHARING NEWS AND INFORMATION TO STRENGTHEN RFPUK
COMMUNITY TIES
RfPUK remained committed to fostering strong community ties through the dissemination of
news and information, bolstered by significant achievements and strategic initiatives
undertaken during the reporting period.
A major achievement during the reporting period was the comprehensive update of RfPUK's
database, ensuring compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation IGDPRI standards.
This updated database facilitated efficient communication and engagement with stakeholders,
enabling RfPUK to deliver updates and resources. Additionally, the implementation of regular
newsletters served as a vital communication tool, keeping stakeholders informed about
project5, initiatives, and opportunities.
RfPUK developed a strategic plan spanning from 2024 to 2026, with a primary focus on
elevating visibility and engagement on social media platforms. RfPUK aims to utilise social
media channels to expand its reach, foster dialogue on interfaith issues, and amplify its

message in today's interconnected world. RfPUK aims to strengthen community ties, promote

RfPUK prioritised governance and compliance efforts during the reporting period, undertaking
comprehensive update5 to its policies and procedures. These updates ensure alignment with
regulatory standards and best practices, enhancing transparency, accountability, and

GOING FORWARD
Equipping Foith ond Belief Communities
RfPUK remains dedicated to empowerin8 faith and belief communities through the
development of comprehensive resource packs, including workbooks, toolkits, and webinar
recordings. These resources serve as tangible tools for communities to enhance their
understanding, foster dialogue, and promote cooperation on interfaith issues. By equipping
communities with these resources, RfPUK aims to achieve measurable outcomes and deliver
tangible benefits to the public.
Research ond Academic Colloborotion
RfPUK is conducting a comprehensive study of Martin Birdseye's 'Morality of the Nuclear
Deterrent" flowchart to explore its ethical dimensions. This initiative aims to foster inclusive
discussions on nuclear ethics and develop an educational program promoting critical discourse
on nuclear issues. RfPUK aims to create materials to facilitate understanding of nuclear ethics
and engage diverse audiences in ethical consideration5 related to nuclear weapons, with the
ultimate goal of preparing for a disarmament-focused program.
RfPUK ha5 developed a strategic approach to collaborate with universities, interfaith groups.
and student societies. The organisation's strategy involves close cooperation with these
stakeholders to promote interfaith dialogue. One notable exarnple of this strategy in action was
observed in Glasgow, where RfPUK successfully hosted events and an exhibition at the
University of Glasgow to explore the dignity of women and promote gender equity through
interfaith dialogue.
Moving forward, RfPUK has loid out plans scheduled for implementation between 2024 and
2026 These proposals span a diverse range of initiatives aimed at advancing the organisation's
mission of fostering peace, understandin& and cooperation. Through rigorous research and
collaboration, RfPUK aims to address various pressing issues. contributing meaningfully to the
discourse on these topics.

RfPUK is expanding digitally with the launch of the Chan8emaker Network, a comprehensive
digital library that gathers resources from its webinars and events. This initiative aims to
streamline knowledge sharing and foster collaboration among stakeholders involved with
RfPUK, amplifying its impact across diverse communities. Additionally, RfPUK's commitment to

NEW INITIATIVES
Parenting for a Changing World
RfPUK' programme launch is a big step towards helping parents navigate the challenge5 of
raising kids in a rapidly evolving landscape. Focusing on strengthening families, this programme
aims to promote understanding between different faiths, being more eco-friendly, and living
peacefully together. Our aim is to give parents the tools they need to raise informed,
empathetic, and resilient children. The first webinar, Digital Parenting with Dr. Elizabeth
Milovidov on March 27th, tackled issues like online safety, cyberbullying, and the impact of
social media on children and youth. RfPUK will be working on this programme throughout
2024, and we hope to see more aware. empowered parents and communities as a result.
Let Earth Breathe: Trees for Peace Campaign
This initiative aims to boost environmental consciousness and biodiversity through online
campaigns promoting tree planting in the Religions for Peace Grove in Scotland. By leveraging
social media on key environmental dates, we seek to educate the public on the scientific and
cultural significance of trees while encouraging active participation. With a goal of planting 5
trees on 21 occasions in 2024, alongside engaging diverse audiences with educational content
and fostering partnerships, our project strives to make a tangible impact on environmental
conservation and foster a deeper appreciation for nature's interconnectedness within our
communities.
EVENTS, PARTICIPATION AND ENGAGEMENT
RfPUK events have seen consistent participation, with an increasing trend in attendance and
registration. During the period spanning from April 2023 to March 2024, RfPUK hosted a total
of 21 events, including both online and in-person gatherings. Of these. 18 were conducted

online, with approximately 268 attendees participating virtually, while 3 events were held
in-person, attracting a total of 50 attendees to the venues. These events Served as platforms for
dialogue, engagement, and community involvement, reflecting RfPUK's commitment to
fostering positive social change and promotin8 interfaith dialogue.
During the period from April 2023 to March 2024, RfPUK, UKYIN, and UKWFN experienced
significant audience growth across their respective media channels. On RfPUK's platforms,
there was an increase in follower5

on X from 545 to 574.
Similarly, UKIYN saw growth
on Facebook from 722 to 872

On UKWFN'S social media platforms

Additionally, there was a noticeable increase in social media engagement. RfPUK experienced
a remarkable 226% increase in reach and a corresponding 226% growth in content
interaction, reflecting the growing interest and involvement in our initiatives and our
increased presence online. These figures underscore our continued efforts in expanding our
reach and fostering meaningful connections with our audience.
FINANCIAL REPORT
RfPUK adheres to an annual financial reporting schedule, with accounts prepared on a yearlv
basis, ending on 31 March. This consistent reporting framework ensures transparency and
accountability in RfPUK's financial operations, providing stakeholders with timely and accurate
insights into the organisation's financial health and performance.
This Board of Trustees keeps under review the management of RfPUK'5 financial and staff
resources and the implementation of its work programme.

GOVERNANCE & MANAGEMENT
RfPUK's deci5ion-making bodies include the Board of Trustees and the General Meeting, with
the Board of Trustees holding ultimate accountability.
The General Meeting:
Reviewed previous operating year's report and accounts for the prior calendar year.
There were no vacancies, therefore no election.
Appointed auditors for the upcoming year.
Addressed other relevant business matters.
Reviewed compliance with renewal requirements mandated by the Charity
Commission.
The General Meeting, held virtually on 28 December 2023, conducted these activities.
Board of Trustees
Throughout the year, the Board of Trustees played a pivotal role in overseeing RfPUK's
operations and ensuring adherence to or8anisational policies and procedures. Below are key
highlights of the Board's activities..
Meeting Frequency: The Board convened seven times over the reporting period to deliberate
on matters concerning RfPUK's governance and management.
Resignation: Regrettably, Mark Owen resigned from the Board on 21 August 2023, prompting
adjustments in leadership and governance.
Charity Trustees. Responsibilities: Board member5, serving as Charity Trustees, assumed
responsibility for overseeing RfPUK's work, including policy formulation, procedural
compliance, and performance monitoring.
Risk Management: The Board remained vigilant in identifying and addressing potential
financial and operational risks, implementing robust risk management strategies to safeguard
RfPUK's interests and sustainability.
Urgent Matters: As empowered by the Board, the Chair continued to act on urgent matters, in
consultation with the Trustees as they deemed appropriate.

Staff and Volunteers
The day to day work of RfPUK is overseen by it5 Chair. At the end of the year the Chair was
supported in working to implement the decisions of the Trustees and AGM by 4 freelancers.
RfPUK had assistance from 21 volunteers between l April 2023 and 31 March 2024. The
Trustees are grateful to all who have given the gift of their time in this way.
