OVERVIEW

Religions for Peace United Kingdom is a chapter of the World Conference of Religions for Peace, the largest international coalition of representatives from the world’s great religions who are dedicated to achieving peace.

Respecting cultural differences while celebrating our common humanity , Religions for Peace is active in over 90 countries, creating multi-religious partnerships that mobilize the moral and social resources of religious people to address their shared problems.

Based upon deeply held moral principles widely shared by the world’s faith traditions, Religions for Peace advances a positive notion of peace that acknowledges that the well being of each person is related to the well- being of all. This notion of peace is multi-dimensional, recognizing the responsibility of all to reject the misuse of religion in support of violence and includes the need to

CONVERSION TO CHARITABLE INCORPORATED ORGANISATION STATUS

The charity was formerly registered with the Charity Commission as World Conference of Religions for Peace (UK Chapter) charity no. 1109076 (“the former charity”).

The trustees decided to take advantage of recent legislation and adopt a more modern format by converting our charity to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Application was made to the Charity Commission who has registered us as a CIO charity no.1190089 (“the CIO”).

This report relates to the CIO for the period ending 31 March 2021 (“the relevant period”).

The Charity Commission has now dissolved the former charity.

FINANCIAL STATEMENT

During the relevant period the CIO was inactive and did not receive funds or hold assets.

Since the end of the relevant period all funds and assets of the former charity have been transferred to the CIO has become fully operational and has taken over all projects and activities previously run by the former charity.

The trustees of the former charity have continued as the trustees of the CIO.
