Objectives and Activities
THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT GOOD HEALTH FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY:-- (1) PROVIDING RELIEF FOR FULL TIME CARERS ACROSS ENGLAND, THROUGH DELIVERING TEMPORARY INSTITUTIONAL CARE FOR (BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY FOR) PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM HUNTINGTONÆS DISEASE OR JUVENILE HUNTINGTONÆS DISEASE (PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM OTHER ILLNESSES THAT REQUIRE FULL TIME CARE CAN BE CATERED FOR IF SPACE IS AVAILABLE); AND (2) TO PROVIDE SAFE AN ENJOYABLE MEETING PLACES ACROSS ENGLAND WHERE ANYONE IMPACTED BY HUNTINGTONÆS DISEASE OR JUVENILE HUNTINGTONÆS DISEASE (SUFFERERS, FAMILIES, FRIENDS AND CARERS) CAN GO TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND GET PROFESSIONAL ADVICE THROUGH IN PARTICULARLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY DROP IN SESSIONS, COFFEE MORNINGS AND OTHER SOCIAL EVENTS.
This period was massively impacted by Covid restrictions which have hampered our progress. We have focused on fundraising and raising awareness of Huntington’s Disease and our charity. We have also laid plans to start our HD Coffee mornings as soon as restrictions allow. Fundraising has included Launch Dinner Dance (before lockdown), Sponsored events (Walks, head shave etc), Online raffles, Bingo, Quiz’s and started an online charity shop. Our online events have been social events allowing people impacted by Huntington’s Disease to have support and contact with others while they were unable to get out and about due to the dangers of Covid-19
Achievements and Performance
We have over 1000 followers on our Facebook Page and 230 on our Instagram page. Although we have not raised as much as we had hoped in Year 1 we have managed to continue money coming in even with all the challenges that have come with the Global Pandemic. We were also unable to start our HD Hub’s (Coffee mornings) however we have put plans in place (such as securing a venue) to ensure we can start this in 2021 when restrictions allow and its safe to do so.
