freelance coordinator now supporting us, we
have been able to utilise the enthusiasm and
contributions of volunteers more effectively. We
have also been able to offer volunteers a better
experience. Volunteers contributed close to 190
hours towards activities and events over the year
- and many more behind the scenes supporting

organisation has been transformational. During
the year we delivered over 30 events / activities
to support local green spaces and help connect
people with nature in their local area. We have
established a monthly e-newsletter and have
grown our Facebook followers.
Activities and events have included:
- maintenance activity and social events at two
community orchards in public green spaces in
residential areas
- community engagement and outreach activities
(including Wallingford Carnival procession during
Great Big Green Week and a stall on the
Kinecroft)
- took part in Wallingford Town Council’s entry in
RHS Britain in Bloom competition (awarded the
Community Involvement award) and entered into
RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood for the Wantage
Road / Sinodun Road corner verge
- spring-flowering bulb planting on Castle Street
verge
