Charity name: The Jayan Foundation

Charity registration number:

Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 (1) The prevention or relief of poverty
or financial hardship in third world
countries by providing financial
support for charities carrying out
projects giving food, clothes,
shelter and education to poor
widows and orphans.
(2) The relief of financial need and
suffering among victims of natural
or other kinds of disaster in the
form of money (or other means
deemed suitable) for persons,
bodies, organisations and/or
countries affected including the
provision of medical aid.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or services
identified in the accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
Our main activities for the year were to
find areas needing donations.
Some of the trustees went to India and
were able to donate money at charities
needing help. Funds for this donation
were raised by the Trustees from
companies which are owned by some of
the Trustees themselves.
We expect to continue to find new
opportunities and make others aware of
these and encourage them to donate.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 The charity has considered the
Commission’s guidance on public
benefit.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The Charity provided funds to various
other charities in the UK – Cancer
research, NSPCC and Great Ormond
Street Hospital. Funds for these
donations were raised by the Trustees
from their own companies.
Towards the end of the year, one of the
Trustees went to India and actively
searched for other charities that help
provide support to those in need. We
were able to make donations to three
different organisations, one of these
being a hospital (help with running eye
camps for people from poor
backgrounds).
We will continue to look for more areas
where we can help people in a similar
way.
