||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document|Para 1.17|**The objectives of the CIO are:**
**a) the advancement of the Christian**
**faith in Shropshire and in such**
**other parts of the United**
**Kingdom or the world in**
**accordance with the statement of**
**beliefs (listed at the end of this**
**constitution) and the fulfilment of**
**such other purposes which are**
**exclusively charitable according**
**to the law of England and are**
**connected with the charitable**
**work of the charity;**
**b) to relieve persons who are in**
**conditions of need or hardship or**
**who are aged or sick and to**
**relieve the distress caused**
**thereby in the said location and**
**in such other parts of the United**
**Kingdom or the world as the**
**trustees may from time to time**
**think fit.**|
|Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.|Para 1.17 and
1.19|**We continued to meet together regularly**
**throughout the year. The number of**
**members remained steady.**
**As a church we continued to donate a**
**monthly amount to the local Baby Bank.**
**We continued our contact with two**
**overseas Christian workers and their**
**families. We increased our regular**
**donations to the family in Cyprus to**
**support their ongoing work. We had**
**regular zoom calls with the second**
**couple in the Philippines, giving them**
**prayer support throughout the year.**
**We continued to run a midweek meeting**
**on Wednesday evenings at one of our**
**member’s homes, led by another**
**congregation member and had two**
**additional small groups for seniors who**|

**weren’t able to join us on Sundays. This brought friendship and spiritual support. As part of our church membership we had several needy people and continued to assist one person with their annual tax return. We continued an Alpha course with three people who attended the church only occasionally. This also included hospitality in a member’s home each time we met. We gave lifts to and from church for some of our elderly members, without which they would have found it difficult to attend. At Christmas time we organised a number of events for the community including Sunday breakfasts and a live stream of a nativity play for the second year running. This replaced our weekly gathering. They were well attended by new families who wouldn’t usually go to church. Our annual Carol service (with live animals for the children) was extremely well attended by local children with their families and elderly folk. ‘Little Bundles’, our Parent/Carer birth to pre-school Toddler group on Friday mornings, continued as a thriving regular community provision. This was very well attended and enjoyed by parents and children. It provided a safe and happy place for all who came along. We led the Easter sunrise service on Easter Sunday morning in the local village and provided hospitality with breakfast after the event which was attended by three other churches.** Statement confirming Para 1.18 whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit
