Objectives and Activities
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document |
Para 1.17 | The objectives of the CIO are: a) the advancement of the Christian faith in Shropshire and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the world in accordance with the statement of beliefs (listed at the end of this constitution) and the fulfilment of such other purposes which are exclusively charitable according to the law of England and are connected with the charitable work of the charity; b) to relieve persons who are in conditions of need or hardship or who are aged or sick and to relieve the distress caused thereby in the said location and in such other parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the trustees may from time to time think fit. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
We continued to meet together regularly throughout the year. The number of members remains steady. We continued to be active in arranging shared supermarket deliveries for neighbours (as well as some church members who needed them) and delivered them to their doorsteps. As a church we continued to donate a monthly amount to the local Foodbank and Baby Bank. These donations continue to date. We continued our contact with two overseas Christian workers families and our regular donations to the one in Cyprus are ongoing for their work. We have regular zoom calls with the second couple in the Philippines, giving them prayer support |
| throughout the year. We continued to run a midweek meeting on Wednesday evenings at one of our member’s homes, led by another congregation member. As part of our church membership we have several needy people and continued to assist one person with their annual tax return. We began an Alpha course with three people who attend the church only occasionally. This also included hospitality in a members home each time we met. We paid for a taxi for one member who would not otherwise have been able to attend on Sundays and we gave lifts home for some of our elderly members. We organised a number of events including a skittles morning with lunch, Sunday breakfasts and live streaming of a nativity play for the community at Christmas time instead of our weekly gathering. They were very well attended and enjoyed by those who wouldn’t usually want to go to church. One of the new main regular community provisions this year is ‘Little Bundles’, our Parent/Carer birth to pre-school Toddler group on Friday mornings. This has been very well attended and provides a safe and happy place for all who come along. |
