Annual Report (coniinuedl Period ended 31 March 2025 Structure. governance and management The International Bhat Sikh Council is a constituted charitable trust registered with the Charity Gommission undercharity number 1190015 and operateswithin theframewoTkof itsgoverning ocument. It is governed by 8 constitution. Organisational Structure The charitytrustees are responsible for the general control and management ofthe charity. The trustees give iheir time freely and receive no remuneration or other financial benefits. The trustees meet together as a body and are responsible for all decisions taken regarding the activities provided by the charity. Recruitment and appointment of trustees The existing trustees are responsible for the recruitment of new trustees but iri SD doing the trustees seektheviews and recommendations ofthe congregation and members ofthe charity. The trustees believe this approach ensures that good relations are fostered between the orEanisation andthe people ofthe localcommunttythatweserve. Volunteers are involved in 811 of our faith and communty activtties. and we have people giving their time on regular basis. Objectives and activlties Aims: To advance the Sikh religion. To develop an encyclopaedia on the history of the Bhat Sikh re￿gIOn. To provide clean drinkingwater to deprived communities in India. To provide financial supportfor the education of poorer people in the UK and India. To provide financial and emotional support forwidows and bereaved families in UK and India. The objectives are set to reflect ourf8ith and community aims. Each year the trustees review the objectives and activities to ensure they continue to refiectthe aim$. In carrying out this review thetrustees haveconsidered the Charitycommission'sgeneralguidance on public benefit and in particular its supplementary public guidance on the advancement of religion for the public benefit. Achievements and perfomiance The charity carries out a wide range of ectivities rcligious and non-religious that deliver public benefit in pursuance ol its charitableaims. Thetrustees considerthatthese activities, previously mentioned, are in 8ccor(Jance with (he Chartty Commission's guidance and provide benefit to thewidercommunty ofthe UK and India. Financial review The Trustees are satisfied wwth the flnancial position of the ch8rtty and there are no concerns regardingthe charity's ability to continue in the future. It is the policy of the charity to maintain unrestricted funds th3t are sufficient to cover management. administration and running costs of the charity for a period oftwelve months. The deficit of unrestricted income over expenditure for the year w8s £27. The total unrestricted reserves at 31 st March 2025 were in deficit ty £2.942. The reserves are well wrythin the charty's target reserves.
