TRUSTEES REPORT
YEAR ENDED 31[ST] MAY 2022
The trustees present their report and unaudited financial statements of the charitable company for the year ended 31 May 2022.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in the notes to the accounts and comply with the charity’s governing documents, the Charities Act 2011 and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland published in October 2019.
Trustees of the Charity
The directors of the charitable company are its trustees for the purposes of charity law. Details of the trustees who have served during the year and since the year end can be found on page 3
Principal activities
The promotion of social inclusion among disabled people from BAME communities in the Northeast of England who are socially excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of their disability and assisting them to integrate into society.
Aims and Objectives
New Hope Northeast aims to provide:

education, information, and opportunities designed to support and enable disabled people to maximise their potential.

public awareness of the issues affecting disabled people, both generally and in relation to their social exclusion.

support groups, forums, advice, advocacy and general support for disabled people and their families/carers.
-
recreational and leisure time activities for disabled people, their families/carers, provided in the interest of social welfare with the object of improving their conditions of life and developing their skills, capacities, and capabilities.
Financial Review
The balance at the beginning of the year was £12,234. During the year ending 31 May 2022, income totalled £56,330 compared to £47,796 in 2021. Expenditure totalled £34,091 compared to £35,562 in 2021, giving an overall surplus for the year of £34,473.

Structure, Governance and Management
New Hope Northeast is a Charitable organisation incorporated and registered with the Charities Commission on 16[th] June 2020 with charity number 1189962.
Governing Document
The organisation is a charitable company limited by guarantee, governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association dated 16[th] June 2020, and was registered with the Charity Commission from 16[th] June 2020. In the event of the company being wound up, members are required to contribute an amount not exceeding £10.
Appointment of Trustees
New trustees are appointed on the recommendation of existing trustees/members. There is a required minimum of three trustees but no maximum number.
Trustees whose turn it is to retire each year will be automatically re-elected unless they or the remaining trustees decide otherwise.
Trustees’ Induction and Training
Trustees are already familiar with the work of the charity. New trustees are provided with Charity Commission guidance for new trustees, along with finance and process documentation, and minutes of previous trustees’ meetings. They are also given an introduction to the work of the charity and their responsibilities.
Trustees are encouraged to attend appropriate internal/external training events to facilitate the undertaking of their roles and to keep up to date with legislative changes.
Organisation
The management and administration of the charity is under the control of the trustees who meet 9 times per year. Day to day operational matters are delegated to Office Administrator in conjunction with the Chair.

Trustees Responsibilities:
The Trustees have not acquired the Charity to obtain an audit of its accounts for the year in question.
The Trustees acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Act with respect to accounting records and preparation of accounts.
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies’ subject to Charities regime.

Accounting Policies
Basis of Accounting
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective January 2015)
Income
The income shown in the Statement of Financial Activities account represents the grants and donations received during the year and b/forward figure from year 2020/2021 accounts.
Fixed assets
Fixed assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation. The cost of minor additions or those costing below £250 are not capitalised.
Depreciation
Depreciation is calculated to write off the cost or valuation of an asset, less its residual value, over the useful economic life of the asset as follows:

Accounts payables
Accounts payables are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party. The amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably.
