The charity’s main object was to create and install a statue of Emily Wilding Davison in Epsom was achieved in 2021. The charity has some legacy issues to complete concerning maintenance of the website and the installation of a QR code on the statue to enable visitors to be pointed to the website. There is also a dispute to resolve concerning a payment to a former trustee and a claim made by the local council to pay the current balance in the charity’s bank account to the Council. The trustees are agreed that the most reliable way in which the objects of the charity can be continued in maintaining the website and promoting awareness and research and education is to dissolve the charity and pass its money to the active local charity The Friends of Horton Cemetery that is currently researching the lives of thousands of women who iced and died and were buried in a paupers’ graveyard in Epsom during the era of Emily Davison’s activism for women rights. The Charity needs to resolve the aforementioned issues first. |
