The club ran a popular and successful car boot sale

Together with Severn Dean Lions Club, Forest of Dean Lions ran two large fundraising events:

Lions Wild Boar Chase Mountain Bike Ride – promoting participation in recreation. This event is very popular with the riders – who enjoy a day of exercise, camaraderie and the beautiful scenery in our area.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

Lions Speech House Fireworks – providing a high quality professional display to offer an alternative to the risky practice of individuals releasing fireworks at home. These events were run with the help of volunteers from local community organisations, including youth organisations such as local Scouts and Guides.

Volunteers from the community enable us to run these two major events. Without the volunteers freely donating their time and expertise we would have much less funds to draw on throughout the year.

As well as providing grants to deserving causes within GL15 and GL16 post code areas and some international disasters, Forest of Dean Lions Club undertakes a number of community service projects. For example,in 2024 a “Forest Champions” event was held to highlight and celebrate achievements of individuals and groups within our community.
