The chaflty's pollcy on reserves
AKvays Communitys ongoing aim is to dèvelop a general reserve to cover a
minimum of 6 months running costs:
. To ensure that ts Always Community can meet ils obligations in the short tenn
and in event of late payment of grants;
. To cover any outstanding liabilit￿ such as stsff redundancy payments and
remaining rx)mmitments'
To ensure that Always Communty's cor8 actwities can continue during a périod of
unforeseen drfficulty.
Monitoring arKI review
The policy and general reseNe tsrget wll be relthewed upon an annual basis.
Furthemiore, the calculations of tho required ￿Ve1 of reseNes will be an integrdl part
of Always Communty plannlng, budget arKI forecast cycle.
Details of the current level of general reser￿ and a six month projected level w411
fom part of the quarterty financial statement to Board members. Re5ponsibilty for
the day to day monitoring and evaluation of reserves rests with the Chief Executive,
with assistanc8 from the Treasurer.
The aim of tho charity IS to build reserves for 6 months. operation. However, it is very
dfficult to build reserves vthen all the funding the chanty receives Is restricted to
project delivery. Th8refore, it is a long-tem ongoing aim. Reserves are essentially
built on unrestrtcted funds (Funds allocated for any use in the charlty). Invarfably the
furKls the charlty receives are restricted funds (Funds restrided to the given project
expend¢ture). Curr8nty, Always Community doesn't have any reserves as all our
fvnding is restri(aed.
Our policy is reifjewed annualty.

Always Community
Flnan¢lal Rlsks
We are reliant on securing funds aftnually through grant applications to maintain our
operations. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to establish sufficient financial
reser￿ to Continue running our adlvities independently of awarded grants. The
majority of our fundlng is restricted to spedfic projects, which méans our abilty to
OP8rate is directy tied to the funds we rerrive for each project.
