Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Number of Hedgehogs admitted to (or born in) the rescue in the specified time frame: 55 A number of the hedgehogs admitted came in being very young and needing extended stays in the rescue. Which meant that there were large periods of time where we were full to capacity due to the space and time they took up. In addition the Trustee with main responsibility for the day to day running of the rescue, had to limit the amount of hedgehogs admitted in November of 2024 due to her father having a heart attack and needing additional support. This impacted on the amount of hedgehogs that could be admitted during this time. As all care of hedgehogs is voluntary, trustees and volunteers have to balance home and work alongside caring for the hedgehogs and their own wellbeing including mental health. Of the 55 hedgehogs admitted or born in the rescue Number of Hedgehogs released: 42 Number of Hedgehogs died while in the rescue: 10 Number of Hedgehogs euthanised in agreement with Veterinary experts: 3 76% of hedgehogs admitted to the rescue were released to the location, or as near as possible to the location, where they were found. An increase on previous years. Had the rescue not taken in these hedgehogs, it is highly probably that they would have all died or all been put to sleep. This has not only helped the hedgehogs, but also the people who have found them, as many members of the public are in a state of mental distress when they call to arrange to bring in a sick or injured hedgehog. The charity, has caused people to feel relief at being able to take the animals somewhere that will help them and ensure they won’t suffer. |
Financial Review
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | Income £ 9,198.45 Expenditure -£ 5,876.02 |
|---|---|---|
| We had some amazing donations from a couple of local companies and some very successful fundraisers. Due to not being able to take as many hedgehogs in during this period, there has been a greater surplus and carry over of funds into 2025, leaving the charity in a strongfinancialposition. |
