At the start of the financial year (April 2024) the Charity’s status was as follows:

Activities undertaken during 2024-25 for public benefit in relation to our charitable objectives:

April and a series of Community Planting events were organised
during May.
Installation of an Interactive Nature Trail was also completed in
May with 10 posts featuring QR codes linked to a storybook and
creature fact pages.




Bulb planting on the Sensory Garden by Reception Class children
from Denton West Primary School.
New drainage ditches and track repairs to improve access for
visitors and vehicles.
Erection of security fencing to enclose the Forest School site as
recommended by OFSTED.
CCTV camera installed in response to anti-social behaviour
concerns.
Community Fun Day 27 July to celebrate opening of the Nature
Trail and Sensory Garden, showcasing the Kids Go Wild Forest
School and Angling Club. Almost £900 raised to purchase and
install a floating Duck House and Butterfly Garden.
Replacement of the DBGS Website and enhancements to
Facebook Page.
The Site formally leased to Tameside’s People 4 Wildlife Group
was temporarily assigned to the Forest School.
Duck House procured and installed in November.
Inspection of water quality in the Cricket Pond by the Environment
Agency confirmed that it was suitable for restocking and several
thousand fish were re-introduced early 2025.
Sponsorship secured for 7 x semi-mature trees, 3 x standard
roses. Donation of 5 x laurels and 2 x twisted willows from a local
resident.
Butterfly Garden constructed March 2025 using railway sleepers
donated by Network Rail.
Installation of Water Tank donated by Groundwork GM.
Tree Planting Day 25 March 2025 funded by Lloyd’s Bank who
provided 31 volunteers to plant 500 whips for a new hedge, 14
semi-mature trees and three standard roses.
Submitted joint bid with Groundwork GM for construction of an
Ecolodge and secured National Lottery Stage 1 approval on 27
March shortly before year end.

Section D Achievements and performance

Throughout the year, the Charity Trustees continued to work with Groundwork Summary of the main GM, subtenants and community partners to secure funding and implement site achievements of the improvements. Sponsorship from local residents provided funds to purchase charity during the year additional semi-mature commemorative trees. The interactive Nature Trail was installed along with the Sensory and Butterfly Gardens.

Following an unsuccessful bid to the National Lottery to construct an Ecolodge, we resubmitted a revised bid in partnership with Groundwork GM and successfully secured Stage 1 approval.

The Charity holds no significant reserves and derives its operational Brief statement of the income from rent received from subtenants supplemented by grants, fund charity’s policy on reserves raising activities and donations.
