At the start of the financial year (April 2024) the Charity’s status was as follows:
-
No decision had been made on use of the site vacated by Tameside’s People 4 Wildlife adjoining the Cricket Pond
-
A National Lottery bid for £235k to erect an Ecolodge had been rejected but discussions were underway for a resubmission in partnership with Groundwork Greater Manchester.
-
Funding from Tameside MBC had been secured to install a Nature Trail.
-
A Round 4 bid to the Greater Manchester Green Spaces Fund to create a Sensory Garden had been rejected but Groundwork GM had offered to fund the project.
-
Funding bids to create a ‘Rainbow Trail’ and ‘Amphitheatre’ had been unsuccessful.
Activities undertaken during 2024-25 for public benefit in relation to our charitable objectives:
- Construction work to create a Sensory Garden was completed in April and a series of Community Planting events were organised during May.

- Installation of an Interactive Nature Trail was also completed in May with 10 posts featuring QR codes linked to a storybook and creature fact pages.

Bulb planting on the Sensory Garden by Reception Class children from Denton West Primary School. New drainage ditches and track repairs to improve access for visitors and vehicles. Erection of security fencing to enclose the Forest School site as recommended by OFSTED. CCTV camera installed in response to anti-social behaviour concerns. Section D Achievements and performance
Throughout the year, the Charity Trustees continued to work with Groundwork Summary of the main GM, subtenants and community partners to secure funding and implement site achievements of the improvements. Sponsorship from local residents provided funds to purchase charity during the year additional semi-mature commemorative trees. The interactive Nature Trail was installed along with the Sensory and Butterfly Gardens.
Following an unsuccessful bid to the National Lottery to construct an Ecolodge, we resubmitted a revised bid in partnership with Groundwork GM and successfully secured Stage 1 approval.
Section E Financial review
The Charity holds no significant reserves and derives its operational Brief statement of the income from rent received from subtenants supplemented by grants, fund charity’s policy on reserves raising activities and donations.
