Chairs report for year ending 30th November 2022

The year ending Nov 2022 has been a difficult one for the Community Centre. The continuing influence of Covid and the current economic climate has impacted on bookings at the Centre and generally on activities and events in the village.

A positive note was that we successfully won a grant to replace our 70 year old asbestos based roof on the Centre. We managed to include additional insulation and two roof lights as part of the project.

In addition, the Centres staff and volunteers held discussions with our young people regarding possible activities based at the Centre. It’s been over a decade since the Teme Valley Youth Project in the village closed leaving our young people without space and facilities.

The Centres trustees managed to attract some local grant funding to help in this project and start regular weekly meetings.

A 3-year lottery bid for the Centre and the Youth project was unsuccessful although the Lottery did invite a fresh application taking their previous comments into account.

During the year we also developed relationships with other county wide organisations including hVOSS, Talk Community, and Rural Media.
