## **Cornerstone Annual Return for the Period ending 31st December 2023** ## **Trustees Report** Cornerstone provides in person and online counselling to residents in Hampshire, Wokingham, Bracknell Forest and Surrey. Until 10th June 2020 Cornerstone was a part of St Peter’s Church, Yateley. From 10th June 2020 Cornerstone Counselling became an independent charity although the charity still operates out of the church premises and in return for a service fee receives access to counselling rooms, bookkeeping and support in arranging bookings for clients. Whilst 2022 saw an increase in demand for our counselling services, from the middle of 2023 there was a noticeable drop in demand. The reason for this was not clear but was possibly due to high inflation and the increase in the cost of living resulting in people having less money to spend. Income from clients was down about 25% in the second half of 2023. The total number of counselling sessions was slightly down at 935 compared with 972 for 2022. There were counselling sessions for only 1 couple and this is an area where we will expand our counselling capability in the coming year. There was a relatively small demand for On-line sessions and these accounted for about 20% of the total. There were two resignations of trustees over the year but both vacancies were filled immediately, so the number of trustees has remained unchanged. The trustees continue to have confidence in the service provided by Cornerstone Counselling and will continue to build on our heritage of being closely associated with St Peter’s church (Yateley).
