## **Cornerstone Annual Return for the Period ending 31[st] December 2021** ## **Trustees Report** Cornerstone provides in person and online counselling to residents in Hampshire, Wokingham, Bracknell Forest and Surrey. This was the first full year that we operated as an independent charity. Until 10[th] June 2020 Cornerstone was a part of St Peter’s Church, Yateley. From 10[th] June Cornerstone Counselling became an independent charity although the charity still operates out of the church premises and in return for a service fee receives access to counselling rooms, bookkeeping support in arranging bookings for clients. The greatest challenge for the charity in 2021 was responding to the significant increase in demand which was in part a result of the impact on people’s lives of the Covid 19 pandemic. The pandemic also continued to have an effect on the way in which counselling was delivered and whilst we have been able to return to in person face-toface counselling we have continued to also offer remote counselling sessions (phone and videoconferencing). Over the course of 2021 the charity saw an increase in the demand for its services. Most clients were referred to the service by local NHS services or as a result of personal recommendation or an online search. During 2021 the trustees has completed a strategic review of the future direction of the charity, we have confidence in a growing service that will continue to build on our heritage as being part of St Peter’s church (Yateley) as well as looking to develop opportunities of working in partnership with other groups in the area. The charity has also developed an additional stream of income via fundraising to support its work.
