I report to the trustees on my examinatlon of the accounts of the Bou8hton & Eastwell Crlcket Club
{B&ECC) for the period ended 31 October 2024.

A5 the charity trustees of B&ECC you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in
accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'the Act'l.
I report in respect of my examination of the B&ECC's accounts carried out under section 145 of the
2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable directions glven by
the Charity Commission under section 145{5){bl of the Act.

As part of following the aims of our constitution. ￿ have adopted a range

The Club has a legal duty of care towards all thildren at the Club, i.e.

ensures members with designated roles are aptyopriately checked and

During 2024, the Club reviewed all its current safeguarding policies and
UF4dated them as ne￿Sary to bring them in line with latest guidance from
the England aThJ Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This prO￿S continues in
2025.

All members haviNJ reg￿T contact with Child￿ are required to undergo
an enhanced criminal records by Disdosure and Barring
Service (DBS). Thrs indudes the Chaimian, junior coaches and age
group managefs, captains and vi(xaptains. Um￿re8. This infomation is
now hekl on ECB'S Safe Hands Management System database and the
Club has able to demonstrate that it is fully compliant. In addrtion to
DBS ¢heGks. all coaches are required to cornp￿ an online Safeguarding
Young Crickelers refrestrw (x>ur8e every three years.
As well as the commitinent to safeguarding child￿n. all clubs now have a
duty of care to vulnerabl8 adults. To this erKI, Club has drawn up, and
will implement a Policy on Safeguarding Vulnerable adults based on ECB
guKlance.
We have been awarded the ECB Clutxnark, which shows that a club is
sustainable, V￿11 run and provides right environment for its memb8rs.

Post Covid, we now back to supplying teas, refreshments and kit on
match days, the management of transport to away games and, also, the
organising of regular social events. helping to maintain a friendly and

We support and participate in Irxal cricket leagues as well as maintaining
long-StarTrding mutually supportive relationships with other cricket clubs
from the local area and around the county and beyond.

We organise Matc*￿S, pra&tces. nets etc. for a number of teams
vthth play home games at the pavilion that we manage and maintain on
the beautiful village green at Boughton Aluph. a few milès North of
Ashford KenL
We have volunteer5 inv(kned in furKI raising and continue to invest in a
major project to repl￿ our cricket pavilion. Fund raising has been
affecièd since the pandemic with the availabilty of capital grants, e.g.
from Sport England. and other donations. all h￿hlY impacted. This led to
the need to look again at our plans and to re-submrt our planning
application, which has now been approved by Ashford Bomugh Council.
A proied managemerrt team wa5 appointed to oversee the project
process of tenders1app￿ents1P1annIn￿etc. Plans have been
approved, surveys comp￿ted as have ott￿r kye-cursors to a building
project, resuMiNJ in first stage being carried OLrt which was the
demolition of the old pavilion. The groun(hvork. induding drilling the piling
to support the n8w F>avilion, has also been comwed and construction of
tr* shell of the new structure has started arKI should be completed by the
end of March 2025.

Our colts secaion continued in positive fashion in 2024 with our 8elfie88
group of Coad￿ guid1￿ and develoyng chiklren a(xo88 4 age groups..
Under 9s. 11s, 13$ and 16s. The latter 3 continued our traditional
participab'on in the local hard ball leagues, wrth the Under 13$ winning
their league and the Under 16s coming a very close second in theirs.
2025 sees the introduction of some girls only coaching s8ssions, with
long-term view of woviding girls only competiti've cricket at some point in
the future.
Every year the dub helps the residents of 8oughton Aluph to organise
and run the Bougmon Fayre, an annual event that attracts large crowds
to green in the summer.

at Boughton & East￿*1￿ CC. continu8S to thrive.
In 2024 the Sunday team had their first ever season in the competitr¥e
Kent County Village Leagu8, finishir¥J in a respe￿ab￿ frfth place in
Division Four East We had some good wins over some strong sides, and
some narrow k6ses induding a loss by one run in a very exciting game at
Tyler Hill. 2025 sees us remain in the same division and face a few of the
same teams from last season as well as som8 newcmrs (and familiar
faces from over the years). The club is looking to push the 'competitive'
league $Kle to ty and provide ts senior players with a great environment
to come and enjoy their cricket.
In addition, there a number of friendlies played on a Sunday, often
alongside a league match showing that there is plenty ot availabilrty giving
us the opts'on to play two games. Thi8 is mainly down to the excellent
k88nne88 of the ctub's j￿10r ￿ayers wants'rKJ to make that step up and
enjoy sènior Cricket In Sunday friendlies all junior players are éncourag8d
and involved in the game. to give them the experience that they may need
to pjsh into the senior league team. But the main emphasis wrth the
friendly Xl ts enjoymert and there were plenty of goLxJ days had
regardless of re8th.
Our Ground Staff volirteers have. again, excelled. CarirKJ for the Village
Green {Boughton Lees) arKI the playing area on rt 18 one of the Club's
greatest c¢ynmitinents, ly)th in ternis of its agreements wth the Parish
Coun¢il arKI to wovide a qualrty environment for playing cricket. The Club
has made consthrable investrnents not just in monetary temis. acquiring
and maintaining essential machinery. and, Yh)er8 required, paying OLJtside
contractorn. txrt also in the b'me commitment frixn Club members.
The major expenditure on moss and weed control treatment and work
from outside Contractors wrth Spe￿alist equipment has been ¢onts'nu8d
and the qualty of the playiThJ surface continues to improve.
Following the autumn renovation. essential c¥e and maintenance of the
square conts'nues over the winter, involving initial watering to ensure
gennination of the seed. regular mo￿ng to encourage dense grothrth,
applications of wintw fertiliser arKI soil ￿)rK￿lI10￿, these operations will
continue until ￿e-seas￿ work starts in the sFYing.
The playing season runs from mi&Awil to late Septemb8r and, vAth
matches for adults, Under-15s. Under-13s and Under-11 s all taking pla￿,
plus prarAice FX1(*￿. the playiNJ square is fully used. Preparats'on of
pitches requires mulh'ple operations of mowng. scarfy"ng, watering and
rolling, and rt is a baEancing act to cary OLrt these tasks in a timely mann8r
when adjacent prtches might be required for competitive games.
Nevertheless, f*Jback from players during the season on the state of
tches has been generally posrtNe.
We corrt1rH￿ to have an ex￿lIent relatiorvtship wtth members of the l¢xal
parish council, the local public house, various local businesses that
sponsor us arKI the wthr village communrty.

The year to 31 Ortober 2024 has continued to be a challenge for our
FunthRaising Commrtlee but there have been several notable successes
with some large donatior￿, many, sp8cific2lly, for our pavilion
replacement project.
La8t yearfs concerns about our outgoings hav8 eased with
introduction of Friday Family Fun Nights, where soft ball cricket is played
for all ages to enjoy, followed by a BBQ. This has help8d the Trustees to
decide, yet again, not to increase the cost of our subscriptions.
