Ashford in KenL
We have volunteers Ylvolved in fvnd raising and (x)nb'nue to invest in
major propct to replace our uv*et pavili￿. Fund raising has been
affec￿1 sfftc* the pwthnic wilh milabilty of capital grants, e.g.
from Sport ErvJland, and ottw donations, all highly impacted. This led to
the need to look again at our pl￿S arKI to r&submit our planning
application, %*ttich has rKhV been approved by Ashford Borough Counal.
Wth S￿ne recant furKkraising suC(￿S the dub has high hopes that
the new pavilion pro￿￿ can begin in 2024.
To this end trustees have apponted a project management team to
oversee the prq'ect sxocass - ￿der￿appoIntMentslp1annlng1et¢. There
has been investment made in pkns. surveys and other pre-cursors to a
building projed. For axanple, plans for the electrical layout and
the inib.al kitchen deS￿n have been sulxnitt8d. Recent surveys include -
the septs'c tank C￿ site - found to be in good 1x)nditi￿ and of
suit*>le (xpaoty for a ne* pavilicn., . the asbestos in Ihe old paviSion -
which will ne&J to be (xnsidered thring the demolition,. and a groundlsoil
report- needed in preparab'on for the new f￿r￿latIOnS. Meetings hav8
taken plac8 b&t4%wI Ihe Club 8fKI the Parish Council arKI betsveen
engineers and Building Control assessors. Also, and not least, the

Under 9s, 11s, 13s and 15s. The latter 3 continued our tr￿lItional
participation in the thal hard ball leagues and the youngest of the age
gr0￿S toL* part in a locaVregwJnal soft ball compeb'tion.
Every year the dub helps the residents of Boughton Aluph to organise
aThJ run Ihe Bwghton Fayre. ￿ annual event that atttacts large crowds
to Ihe green in the stThmer.

greatest commitrnents. both in tenns of its agreements with the Parish
cour￿11 arKI in order to provide a walrty anvironment for Playing cricket.
Th8 Club has made {X￿￿derable investments notjust in monetary tems,
acquiring and maintainir& essents'al machinery. and, vthere required,
pwng outsth C￿￿￿or$. Ixrt also in the ts'me o)mmitment from Club
membors.
The major exr*Nlilure on moss and weed control trealment and work
from wtside ￿ntraCtorS with speaalist equipment has been continued
arKI the qualty of th8 playiro Surfa￿ continues to improve.
Following trE autumn renovation, essential care and maintenance of the
square has conb.nued over Ihe wnter. involvirvJ In￿'al wat8ring to ensure
germination of Ihe seed. regular mowing to enc(wrage dense growth,
apwicab.ons of winter fertiliser arAI soil conditioner. these op8rations will
cOntiTr￿ until pr&seas(m starts in the spring.
The playing season from mi&April to late September and, viith
matches ft)r &Julls, Under-15s, UrKler-13s and UrKler-11 s all tsking pla￿,
plus prdc11￿ IxtdÈs, the plawng square is fully used. Preparation of
pilches requi￿ mults'ple operations of mo*ving, scanfying, watering and
rolling, aTrJ it is a balancing act to caryy out tt)ese iasks in a ti￿lY manner
when adjacerrt Wes might be required for cnmpetstive games.
Nevetheless. feedback from players thring the season on the state of
pitches has been generally positive.

accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 {'the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the B&ECC's accounts carried out under section 145 of the
