## NASSMA Annual Report 2024
Reporting period: 02/01/2023 to 01/01/2024
NASSMA’s objective is to advance the education of the public in the subjects of science, technology, engineering and maths (also known as STEM), with a focus on the MENA region in particular, but not exclusively, by:
- (a) organising educational events, conferences and summer schools, and;
- (b) providing scholarships for scientific researchers, students and professionals in the
- educational and training sector in order to facilitate their attendance at such events.
During the week 12-16 December 2022, NASSMA organised the AI4Science 2022 event which took place in Rabat, Morocco. The event was organised in partnership with UM6P (Universite Mohammed 6 Polytechnic University) and MASCIR (the Morrocan Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation and Research). The workshop featured lectures on the applications of AI to scientific discovery and was aimed at researchers, students, and engineers. The web page of the event is: https://ai4science.nassma.ai/.
## Income and expenses for the reporting period
The sole income of NASSMA during the reporting period was in the form of a sponsorship donation by UM6P (University Mohamed VI Polytechnic), amounting to £8,000 for the AI4Science 2022 event. The expenses during the reporting period amounted to £2,022; of which £1,871 was paid to financially support 11 participants attending the AI4Science 2022 event (reimbursements of transportation and accommodation costs upon sending receipts/proofs of payment), and £151 was paid for domain name registration of NASSMA’s website.
