## **Core Values**

– **Integrity** The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. The state of being whole and undivided. Basically, doing what you say you are going to do, when you say you are going to do it and how you say you are going to do it

– **Mindfulness** The quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. First awareness of self, then others. Being conscious and considered in our approach – when we act, when we speak and how we live.

– **Nondisruptive Creation** Where one’s gain does not have to come at the expense of others. A new way of thinking where untouched opportunities abound. We need to alter our perception of fundraising, we should not be competing in this field, we should be leading through creativity. We need to inspire people to give.

– **Empowerment** Firstly by empowering ourselves with the tools and information to make a difference. Then by empowering organisations, groups, communities, and society to make lasting changes, to make better choices, and to create opportunities. Empowerment should be done in transparent, meaningful, and lasting ways.

**Mission Statement**

## **Mission**

To protect, rehabilitate, conserve, and preserve historical habitats of biodiverse value, and associated species, in southern Africa.

## **Vision**

To become the leading science-based project funding conservation charity defined by the highest ethical standards and driven by our core values.

## **Objectives**

To secure and protect biodiverse habitats, and associated species, crucial for conservation, preservation, and forming linkages and corridors between existing reserves

To support sustainable and community owned projects in rural communities surrounding critical biodiverse areas that are linked to conservation or enhance the local support for conservation, with particular focus on nature, health, skills development, and engaging education.

_Engagement_ leads to _Involvement_ leads to _Education_

To raise environmental awareness through our projects, and engage a multiple of stakeholders and donors

To inspire and nurture a new generation to connect with the natural world

To remain committed to preventing the illicit wildlife trade and the protection of the natural environment which affects us as a global community through example

To support like-minded implementing partners on the ground in fulfilment of our mission

## **Message from Martyn Randall Chairman of the Trust**

**Starting up a charity under any normal circumstances is always a challenging thing to do and we as a team have done this during the worlds worst ever pandemic. Whilst the lock down in the UK has been difficult for the team to look to raise funds through specific events, we did manage to get several completed during this time and they were a huge success in not only raising funds for our much need projects, but also our educational and awareness message was able to be delivered.**

**We have seen our team grow from 4 to 10 people and evenly spread between the UK / South Africa and we continue to go from strength to strength. The team and structure we have will enable us to grow over the coming years and make a real impact on the conservation, biodiversity improvements and with a regional focus through Kwa-Zulu Natal.**

**2021-22 is going to be a real challenge for the everyone worldwide due to the Covid pandemic remaining with us, we will continue to grow our partnerships, the projects we’re involved in and build on relationships on the ground.**

**It goes without saying how proud I am with what we have achieved in such a short period of time, and I would like to thank all trustees, the families of the trustees and everyone who has supported us in getting us where we are in our first year.**

Strategic report

## Completed projects

In May 2020, we successfully raised funds to donate 30 PetEMed anti-poisoning units to Vulpro (Vulture rehabilitation centre)

Vultures are a key component to maintaining healthy ecosystems. Because of their role as nature's garbage disposers, vultures are able to keep the environment clean and free of contagious diseases. By ridding the ground of dead animals, vultures prevent disease from spreading to humans and animals

## Completed projects - continued

In May 2020, we successfully raised funds for the training of Dakota (cold trail bloodhound) who has been deployed by Noctuam in the Kalahari to act as a force multiplier in their battle against the poaching epidemic.

Dogs are proven to be highly effective in support to the anti-poaching units, owing to their excellent sense of smell, being able to track down poachers and detecting illegally trafficked rhino horns.

## Completed projects - continued

In November 2020, we successfully raised funds to donate a commercial laundry machine to the Sabi Sands anti-poaching unit in Greater Kruger.

APU rangers wear uniforms to make them easy to recognise in the field and huge pride is taken when wearing them.

## Completed projects - continued

Asbestos Solutions Southwest Ltd sponsored the first couple of months and the annual sponsorship has since been picked up by As Wild As.

This reserve is the original population of all southern white rhinos in existence. The K-9 unit is on the frontlines of protecting this important population

The Evening raised the charity £460.00 and was enjoyed by all those who attended.

## Completed Events - Continued

In May 2021, our very own Steve Mulcock cycled over 220 miles in 2 days to Lands End in Cornwall to raise funds and awareness for our projects. Steve was support on his trip by his fantastic wife, who not only acted as a support vehicle, but she also completed the final 10 miles of the journey.

Steve has raised over £1,600 so far and the majority of the money will come through via Facebook fundraising in to our 2021/22 accounts.

## Completed Events - Continued

In August 2020, we successfully held our annual T20 cricket match with Ubuntu and Friends vs a Whimple select. The match was a close one and eventually won by Ubuntu and their captain JJ.

The Thirsty Farmer were the match sponsor and Whimple Cricket Club also donated towards our projects, helping raise £473.00

## Engaging our supporters

Our supporters are central to our success for fundraising and raising awareness throughout the world.

We will continue to use social media, events and our website to engage with them.

We would not be where we are today, making the impact we are without their ongoing support.

## Looking ahead

With coronavirus still causing turmoil worldwide we have planned much of our UK event activity towards the end of 2021, with the exception of our annual T20 Cricket Match in August and we expect our SA based experience tours to commence again in March 2022. The majority of our projects have been planned for 2021 and going it to 2022, that said Clinton and Brendyn are constantly talking to our partners and other charities to see if there are other opportunities for us to look to assist in the greater vision on the Zulu Land area.

We will also be looking to grow our corporate donors, event sponsors and individuals looking to raising donations through their own fundraisers.

## Financial review

The charities first year has total funds received of £4,085.92 and a an expenditure of £6,323.27

The below pie chart shows where the money has been donated or spent. The chart shows that just over 95% of the monies spent by the charity are on donations to projects and just over 4% are overhead costs to the charity.
