TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT
for the seven month period May 29[th] until December 31[st] 2020
Here4Horses became a registered charity on May 29[th] 2020. The Charity had been operational for a little over twelve months, before making the successful registration application to the Charities Commission. Despite the restrictions caused by the Covid 19 outbreak, there have been many achievements to be proud of.
There was initial disappointment at having to cancel the Charity Launch Event planned for May and then the national lockdown led to all other activities also being cancelled.
Some very successful fundraising events have however taken place and since becoming a registered charity, the magnificent sum of £11.552.00 has been raised for our cause. A special mention must be made here, of Founding Trustee Claire Robinson, who held a Dressage Event which raised £976.00 and then took part in a Sponsored Walk which raised a further £1869.00.
A successful Rug Sale in October raised £1885.00 - a fantastic total, considering the atrocious weather on the day. Finally, the Christmas Raffle brought in £942.00.
The Trustees would like to sincerely thank everyone who has donated prizes, rugs, saddlery and/or merchandise to sell for our events.
The process of listing our ponies on the website began, which has led to people becoming interested in their life stories and taking out all-important sponsorship – it is anticipated that this activity will increase year on year.
All the amounts listed above do not include Gift Aid – the application for this is progressing.
On the expenditure side of the accounts, the largest cost has been the setting up of our superb website and the on-line shop and it is truly remarkable that we have been able to fund this substantial project within one financial year.
In November we were proud to have our application to join the National Equine Welfare Council accepted. We look forward to working closely with them as our lead body in the future.
We ended 2020 with 18 horses and ponies in residence and a further 8 placed in foster homes. We were able to partially fund the boarding costs for 10 of the charities’ ponies for the year. We are thankful for those who give their time and resources free of charge.
Further generosity from Trustees and supporters; with regard to Veterinary work and Farriery care, have kept our costs low for our first year.
Hopefully, as our fundraising continues to be successful and we roll out our sponsorship offer, we will be able to properly fund all of the horses and ponies in our care, at appropriate commercial rates.
With the on-line shop now up and running, branded merchandise has been purchased to sell via the website and take to Summer Shows. Virus permitting, the team will get out and about in 2021.
With this in mind, a promotional gazebo and banners have been purchased, in order to help raise our profile and promote our work to new audiences.
