Governance and Management

The Community Group Charity is a volunteer organisation where everyone is welcome.

Structure, Governance & Management

Constitution adopted 28 May 2020

Evaluation Report for Monitoring

We prepare an evaluation report at the end of every project which contains enough evidence to demonstrate the difference we make and answer important evaluation questions. This also helps us discover areas for improvement and/or to look at the project’s we have been involved in and their overall quality or value. It shows how well funds have been used, and what the benefits of our project have been to those involved. To request a copy of evaluation reports, e-mail e.eneobong@icloud.com

Volunteers

Our volunteers over this year have comprised of people who have been out of work for a considerable time and are looking to develop skills to get back into the workplace. We have also been fortunate to have student volunteers from The University of Bristol who have helped us to tackle social challenges whilst connecting with their local communities as well as businesses. We have run community forums which involved ongoing panels made of businesses within our priority areas who are engaged and surveyed to allow a shared voice for the community and businesses in the area to input into the

programming of activities of the charity as well as tackle employment related and social issues.

Additional Governance

Policies in place include Safeguarding of children & vulnerable adults, Complaint’s handling, conflicting interests, Safeguarding vulnerable beneficiaries, Volunteer

management, and Equalities and Data protection policies. DBS checks are carried out on volunteers and tutors, where necessary.

Objectives & Activities

The aims of the organisation are:

The relief of unemployment for the benefit of the public in Bristol and the surrounding area in such ways as may be thought fit, including assistance to find employment.

How the charity helped this year

Due to the restrictions brought about by the pandemic, we turned our attention to online methods of providing our services. We provided human resources to various businesses, provided employment advice and information to people throughout England, Ghana, Nigeria, Philippines, and the United States of America. We also undertook research with a team of student volunteers provided by the University of Bristol in collaboration with various firms across the Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone including Burge Salmon, TLT, Osborne Clarke and many others.

Over the next few years, we want to continue to provide an array of employability support to the general public and specifically aid local people to find employment. We will continue to address unemployment in the United Kingdom by working with the local authorities, employers, businesses and voluntary sector organisations to ensure people find and keep good jobs.

We intend to resume our popular job clubs and conversation clubs where volunteers and professional tutors offer free and impartial information, advice and guidance to people looking for work.

We aim to find new organisations to collaborate with using the research and publications derived from our focus groups to find innovative ways to improve corporate responsibility, resilience in the workplace and develop the future of work.
