The Trustees present their report with the financial ststements of the CharTty forthe year ended 30 June 2023.
The Trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charrties: Statement of Recommended
Practice applicable to charrties preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republlc of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffectfrrfe l January 20151.

The Tru5tee5 have consldered the Charity Commlssion's guidance on publlc benefft, Includlre the guldance'publlc
benefrt: runnin8 a Charity IP821'. The Trustees conclude that, SIn￿ The Sussex Mark BenLvolent Fund, CIO ISM8F
CIO) exists to support the Freemason community and their families. they feel the Charity can demonstrate each of
the principles Outlined in the Charity Commission's guidance on Charities and Publlc Benefft are being met.

The policy of the Sussex Mark Benevolent isto quir&ly pn)vlde srnnts in rellef of necd for Mark M•ster Masons and
their dependents and from time to time to make substantial 8rants to worthy causes likely to benefit Mark Master
Masons and sofar a5 funds pemitto make simllargrantsto non-Mason&Therefore. the Trustees, where ne￿$Sary•
use digital communications to enable timely and prompt decisions.

The Charty holds limited restricted fund. defined as'property {induding moneyl given for a speafic purpose and
in respect of which conditions have been imposed as to its use.

Charitable artivitie5
The Trustees express thanks to all the brethren fortheir continued supportthrou8h indb41dual and lodge donatlons
of £10.288 directly to the charity. SpecifKalty, and additional￿, the annual promotion of the lapel badge in aid of
the 2023 Mark 8enevoknt Fund FestNal by the purchase of £9&) of Festrrfal Badge5 forthe Provinual Grand Lodge
of Mark Master Masons of West Yorkshlre.
The Trustees also wish to thank all thè brethrèn ènd Lodges of the Provinclal Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons
of Sussex for their continued support of the SMBF. the Mark Benevolent Fund IMBFI and the Masonic Charitable
Foundation IMCFI. Donations via the MCF. through the Relief Chest Scheme raised £7.597 and can, for UK
tsxpayers who have sv&ned a Var￿ Gift Aid Declaratlon Increase thelr contributlon by a ￿laiM from HMRC.

The day.to-day mana8ement of the SMBF CIO'S assets Is ty the Trustee4 tskin8 such athrfice from time to time as
they con51der necetsary. The general powers of investment are incolporated in the Charivs Governin8 Document.
The SMBF CIO15 SUPPOrt￿ by tontrlbutlons from Brethren. Ladles. Lod8es and Provlnces and these may take the
form of elther, donations. covenants, le8acles or *uests. The Charlty has not engaged wlth thlrd partles to ralse
fvnds and there has been no direct approach to members of the public for funding.

The value of the net assets a5 at 30th June 2023 is É88,419 {2022- É90.9621.

obligatlons created by its activSties.
Golng concern
The Trustee5 are ￿tISfied that the Charity is a 8oln8 concern In the yearto 30 June 2023.
FUTURE PLANS
The Trustees are anxlous to Improve the vlsibility of SMBF CIO amongst the Mark Master Masons of Sussex. The
2019 Festrval, which was an enom)ous success. was followed by meetings being abandoned due to Covid 19. There
Is a need to relnvigorate the distinguishing chararteristK of a freemason's heart. Charity. and the Trustees will
continue taking steps to encoura8e greater givin8 amon8St Mark Master Masons and Mark lodges.

The Sussex Mark Benevolent Fund. CIO Reg. No. 1189680 was regtstered with the Charity Commission on 2Tr May
2020. The Charity was formed by Fts predecessor charity Sussex Mark Benevolent Fund Re8 No 1090369 ISMBFI
which ap￿inted the firstTrusteesand set outtheirwwers and responsibillties aswell asthe power of appointment
