Report of the Trustees for the year ended 31 December 2020
The trustees present their annual report and financial statements of the Foundation for the
Year ended 31 December 2020. The financial statements have been prepa red in accordance
with the Foundation's trust deed, the Charities Act 1993 and the Statement of Recommended
Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities published in 2005.
Structure, Governance and Management
The Coco Joelle Foundation ICJFI is a registered charity, number 1189609, and is constituted
under a constitution dated 18 May 2020 establishing it as a Charitable Incorporated
Organi5ation ICIOI. It was established by Dr David Cotton and his daughter, Mrs Lisa Seymour
as a grant-making foundation whose objects are summari5ed as..
The relief of those in need by reason of ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other
disadvantage,.
The advancement of environmental protection or improvement:
Such other exclusively charitable purposes as the Charity Trustees decide.

The management of the Foundation is the responsibility of the Trustees who are elected and
co-opted under the terms of the Constitution. All trustees were appointed for an initial period
of one year, extended to three years by a resolution passed by the trustees. The trustees
were selected with regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective
administration of the CIO. There are no sub-committees and all decisions are agreed by a
majority of the trustees who have signified their agreement.
Since its establishment, and given the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic on
conducting in-person meetings, all decisions regarding the Foundation have been conducted
by email, phone or by virtual meeting.
Grant Making Policy
The Foundation has established a grant making policy which will distribute funding to Causes
according to principles which include..
All organisations applying must be registered with the Charity Commission
All applications must be to support work that is wholly charitable in purpose
The grant will help the Foundation deliver against its charitable objects
The organisation applying can demonstrate credible and skilled leadership as well as
strong sector understanding
The organisation should show a committed approach to measure and evaluate the
grant/s provided and report in detail on the expenditure of the grant at regular
intervals throughout the funding period
In addition to this policy, The Foundation is prepared to work in partnership with other
organisations to fund initiatives beyond the scope of a single organisation
The First Year
In this its first year, the Coco Joelle Foundation has made no grants. The time has been Spent
in drafting and agreeing the Constitution and policies and in allowing the Trustees the
opportunity to publicise the Foundation's existence. As a new grant making trust, there have
so far been three approaches made for funding which are currently under consideration by
the Trustees. These are:
Fat Macy's Foundation {Charity No. 11736881. The Fat Macy's Foundation IFMFI
works with young Londoner5 living in hostel accommodation and provides in-hostel
catering training to train participants in catering, hospitality and food hygiene. FM F is
seeking funding to equip a building in Shoreditch which is being converted into a
catering academy.
James, Place (Charity No. 11218911. James, Place raises awareness of anxietv,
depression and suicide amongst young people, working to combat the second largest
cause of death amongst young men in the United Kingdom. The charity is seeking
funding for two therapists and resources to publicise its work in both London and
Liverpool.

Clapton Common Boys, Club (Charity No. 1121347). Clapton Common Boys, Club
works to improve the lives of disadvantaged young boys by providing stimulating and
engaging extracurricular activities. They have approached aF with a request for
assistance for a creative arts programme to be run in the summer of 2021 for 45 boys
with special educational needs.
In November 2020, Mr John White joined CJF as the Trust Administrator to assist with the
administration of the Foundation, the processing of bids and the eventual disbursement of
grants.
Future Plans
Following advice from the Foundation's bankers (Coutts & Col, the Trustees will be
approaching two organisations, the Charities Aid Foundation ICAFI and the National
Philanthropic Trust INPTI with a view to linking the Coco Joelle Foundation to a Donor-Advised
Fund IDAFI. Given the nature of the Foundation and the manner in which it is funded, a DAF
would allow Trustees to establish and fund the account in a tax-efficient manner as well as
reduce the administrative burden. Should Trustees take this option, they will continue to
exercise their discretion on donations and to recommend grants from the fund to other
charitable organisations.
Approved by order of the members of the Board of Trustees on
