In this way we meet the objects of the charlty. Althou8h we rnaSnly seThe the populatlon of Waltham Forest. we do r￿t limit our service to thls I￿a and, If we have the capa¢lty, wlll help those who may come from further afield in London. WFMA was founded In 2013 and was p￿lOuSlY known as Walthamstow Mlgrant Actlon Group. It was run as an unlncorporated small charlty. The name was changed 2 years a80 and the constftutlon revlsed to strengthen the governance of the 8roup and to become re815tered wlth the Charlty Commisslon as a Charltable Incorporated Organlsatlon. We applled fw re8lstr4tlon and recelved thls In May 2020. Three trustees res5gned durlng the year. all due to overseas postln8s. and were replaced elther bv election at the Annual General Meeting or appointment by the remaining trustees in accordance wlth our constttutton. The buslness of the chaffty was conducted by the trustees at 6 formal rneetfn8s durln8 the year and at the AGM In September We introduced a membership scherne wlth the revlsion of our constttutlon and membershlp at the end of the year numbered 46. Although encourdged to become so. not all our volunteers are member5. Nevertheless, they form tal and much appreclated part of our opeTrfjon. Most help to run our drop in centre, but some help wlth events and fund ralsing. It Is a mark of their enthuslasm and loyalty that the malorlty have remained with us through the Covid pandemlc. All our fundlng so far has been through events we hw•e orpnlsed or parttclpated In and canva551n8 by our members and trustees for individual donations. t￿rIng thls year we secured parbcular purpose donations which enabled us to start offering immi8rn￿0n casework to follow up on our ad¥Trce. We have treated these donatlons as restricted funds. Fundralsln8 vrds severely affected by the Covid lockdowns and restricttons but we were able to Increase our re5er¥es by £5589. Events raised £2473, membershlp fees amounted to £363, individual general use donatlons were £1761. and the imml8r4tion osework donatbons amounted to £7CrfX). We also recelved a Érant from the London Borough of Waltham Forest of £760 towards office equipment and drop in expenses and a grant from the tharity Servas of £SOO to provlde small hèrdship grants to iisitor5 affected by the Co¥id conditions. Slnce the AGM In September. some trustees have InN￿ed considerable effort into applylng for grdnt fundin8 to enable us to increase the breadth and quality of the service we can offer to migrants. as we recognise that we have probably reathed the Ilrn￿ of the funds we can ralse locally through our own efforts. We do not as yet have a formal policy on reser￿5. but currently alrn to malntsln suffldent capitsl to keep the drop in operatin8 for 6 months without income. The treasurer reports the financial situatlon and cash movements in excess of £ILK) to the trustees at each of the fomial trustee meetlngs. We have no pa￿ staff and make no payments to trustees or volunteers Other than re-imbursement of expenses. Un￿1 the outbreak of Covld at the end of the prevlous year we ran our once a week drop In on the premlses of the Walthamstow Salvatlon Army. At the end of the flrst lockdown we endeavoured to create a Covld safe operaUn8 e￿ranrnent, but unfortunately could not adapt the hall to be so. We therefore sou8ht an alternatlve venue and discovered that the church hall at 81a¢khorse Road Baptist Church in Walthamstow was almost ideal. bein8 large. airy and allowin8 for a one way system for people flow, thus easily facilitstin8 social distsncin& We opened Just before Chrtstmas, but had to Immedlatety close down a8aln because of the Implementatlon of the second major lockdown. In the meanwhlle, slnce the Inltlal March lockdown. we opernted a telephone servlce for those who stlll needed advlce desplte the very than8ed condltlons. We kept volunteer Interest by or8anisin8 weekly Zoom meetSngs to compare notes and keep everyone infomed of how we were doin8. Overdll ￿ serniced 163 calls, 103 women and 60 men. Thls is lower than the prevlous year when we recorded 192 vlsits at the drop In, but that Is probab￿ explained by the fact that although the drop In venue was relatlvely well known. our phone contsct detalls had to be spread through the ￿mmUnity In dlfflcult clrcumstances so many polnts of conLlCt closed. The calls Included 81 Imml8rants from Afrtca. 45 from Asla. 17 frorn the Carlbbean and Amerlcas and 11 from the EU. 52 were offered professlonal pro bono Immlgratlon advice and 36 welfare and houslnq advke. The balance was sign postln& fomi fillin& ts'll queries or grant and ftlodbank requests. We Introduced our casework service during Au8USt, and by the end of the year had taken on 20 Immlgratfon cases, resulttng in 15 Horne Office applications of whlth 2 Ilmlted leave to remain extenslons with access to public fvnds and one initial limited leave to remain with access to public fund5 had been successful. No applications have been ￿JeCted. but Ft is the nature of Home Office appliGitions that they 50metlme5 tske tlme to be processed, so the balance had yet to be declded by the end of the year. We also Implemented an elertronlc vlsltor dats collertlon system whlch has been developed for us by two of our members. We have a written GDPR policy and where applicable our vÉsrtors have our privacy nollce explalned. Covid has made ompoi8ning take a back seat this year. but we ha* continued to publish our rnonthly elertronic newsletter whlch Is dlstrlbuted to members, ¥olunteers and to all who have re8lstered an Interest In our organlsatlon. We use It to rdlse awareness of matters affethng asylum, refugees and mi8rants and it has received considerable praise amoD8 its ￿aderS for the quality and Interest.
