Review of the Y￿r
The fi]ll PCC met on six Occ￿10nS during the year. The Leadership Tea￿ functions as th¢ Finance
Cornmitt¢¢ and Standing Committe4 and makes Tecommendations to the PCC. The Treasurer has also kept
up-t041ate with the finallcial position of the Church at each m¢¢ting.
The PCC agreed to eontiuue ¢mploying Ali Sayers-Flood (Women's Worker) until AUg￿t 2025, when she
will leave St Mary's. The PCC discuss¢d the possibility of ejnploying a families, worker, ideally ill post
by September 2025. If sufficient Ll]nds can be raised through grants and givin& the PCC have given their full
support for thi5. The PCC has a150 given Ros¢mary Neill permission to offi¢iat¢ as Reader for another year,
givillg thanks for her ongoing service to the cburch and community.
'The PCC h&s repeatedly discussed doctiinal changes in th¢ Church of England to do with Living in Love alld
Faith and the subsequent Prayers of Love and Faith. On 8 May 2024 the Vicar and Wardens wrot¢ to tbe

"In ljlarch our PCC decided to request alternative spiritual oversigbt from CEEC. Through your
pernission we already receive the ministy of the Bishop of Ebb5fleet because of our complementarian
convictions. Because of thaL CEEC have &ked Bishop Rob to provide alternative spiritual oversight .
because of this separate issue of human seKll21ity.
"Let us re￿SUre you that we will continue to submit to you as our diocesan bishgp in every legal
matter. e.g.> licences, safeguarding and propety services. But because of your lack of clarity regarding
bibli¢al t¢a¢hing about marriage and sexual SI￿ we continue to f¢¢1 llnable to receiv¢ your spiritual
n]inistry (which our PCC wrote to you about on 12 March 202)). ...
"As part of our reSpo￿e to the Prayers of Lov¢ Faith. our PCC has also decided to restri¢t its
Common Fund eontributions so they can only be used in churehes where sexual immorality is not
promoted. The easiest way for us to do this is through CEEC'S Ephesian Fund. This won't entail any
T¢du¢tion in our ¢onlTibutions."
The Buildings Con]mittee continues to support the Wardens in the maintenance and development of the
buildings. Following on'.from the Quinqucnnial Inspection. from Novemb¢r 202a, fitture plans include
containing the trees around the church. repainting the interior of the ¢hurch (now that th¢ walls damaged by

Financial Overview
The A¢counts for 2024 show UNRESThCTED income of £93,788, a little lower than in 2023 (£97,878).
Despite corLtinuing concerns about.the Cost of Living sitsation faced by many people, we remain thallk￿l to

rent paid by Bible Training Yorkshire and the Romani2Th congregation.
Unrestiicted Expenditure was marginally lower than the previous year (£95.941 - down from £96,691),
largely due to repairs ne¢d¢d in the church building being put on hold until the damp i55ue is resolve& and
those in the grounds awaiting granting of a Faculty, and to our planned use of Restricted Funds. We had
budgeted unrestricted expendibjre on staffing of 'only' £12,000 with the view of tsking the excess necessary
from Restricted Fwids, and therefor¢ we still hold mu¢h of the I￿e u￿estrICted reserve built up 4 or 5 years
ago, which will enable us to ¢oritillue to employ additional staff in'leaner years" We also used the retained

able to Rncrease our Com￿oll Fund payrncllts to £5)200 (£52,000 in 202), £48,000 in 2022 & £36.000 in
2021), 50 that we cover the cost of our Vicar.
Towards the end of 2024, many of our P¥listat)i church members suffered loss of income 'overnight', when
th¢ nursing home at which they were employed was tsk¢n over. We were able.to use restricted fill￿ (Poor
of the Pari5h} to pmvide food vouc]ws and one-off rent payments for the most needy of them.
The PCC has Tnainttined its policy of giving IO% of its unrestricted income to wider mission.
Our Accounts show a sm911 excess of cxpenditure over income for the year. on VTLrestricted fimds. which

following grant applieatLons), we still fEntsh the year with an ullrestricted funds balance of £87,50J (£90,738
in 2023), which together with restricted fi￿dS for staffing tota]Éng £10,886 (£17,270)- total restricted funds
of £38,346 (£38,)09)- continues to allow the PCC to plan strategically for 2025 alld beyond. With balances
of £125,849 we are ¢onfident that the mission and outreach of the Church will continue in our parish
community in 2025. along5Lde the maintenance of our buildings, whilst maintyning an efficient Cash flow to
be able to service the necessary ain￿ and objective$ of our smatl staff t¢am.
Fund balances are invested the CBF Church of England Deposit Fund, the Current Account (Virgin
Money) usually being kept at the tninimum necessary for day-to-day fmanci21 transactions. The proportion
'of restricted and ullrestricted capitsl balan¢¢s conttnues to chang¢ but interest is apportioned accordingly.
Approved by the PCC OD 17 February 2025 and signed on its behalf by the Chairman.

support for thi5.

"As part of our reSpo￿e to the Prayers of Lov¢ Faith. our PCC has also decided to restri¢t its

Unrestiicted Expenditure was marginally lower than the previous year (£95.941 - down from £96,691),
largely due to repairs ne¢d¢d in the church building being put on hold until the damp i55ue is resolve& and

budgeted unrestricted expendibjre on staffing of 'only' £12,000 with the view of tsking the excess necessary
from Restricted Fwids, and therefor¢ we still hold mu¢h of the I￿e u￿estrICted reserve built up 4 or 5 years
ago, which will enable us to ¢oritillue to employ additional staff in'leaner years" We also used the retained

2021), 50 that we cover the cost of our Vicar.
Towards the end of 2024, many of our P¥listat)i church members suffered loss of income 'overnight', when
th¢ nursing home at which they were employed was tsk¢n over. We were able.to use restricted fill￿ (Poor

The PCC has Tnainttined its policy of giving IO% of its unrestricted income to wider mission.
Our Accounts show a sm911 excess of cxpenditure over income for the year. on VTLrestricted fimds. which

of £38,346 (£38,)09)- continues to allow the PCC to plan strategically for 2025 alld beyond.
